Thats a really argument. They started a great new sound, and then proceded to milk that sound for all it is worth.

Alot of people love it everytime, but a few of us get bored fast.

your comment doesn't even make sense...how would they get popular by making crap? i think they overall make great work...and the whole "them jumping on the bandwagon" deal is freaking so tired, it's like people need to think of original concepts.

the swedish mafia has influenced house a lot over the past few years...they have developed their own sound, unlike some producers who have been doing this for 10+ years. but whatever, props to them...when you have this many haters, you know you have made it somewhere..

well we can agree to disagree erin, sorry. and of course it all comes down to relative opinions, but i'll stand by what i said. of course we'd have to define crap to give this discussion anymore relevance as i'm sure you'd define it differently than i would.

i mean you say they make great work...i say their work lacks creativity...

you say they influenced house...i say they exploited it

does popularity necessarily dictate artistic talent? i'd have to say no...

i don't hate angello & ingrosso...i don't care enough to hate them. i just feel sorry for them because instead of actually establishing themselves as artists they've made their career into a 15 minutes of fame trend. if they can change that...good for them, if not...well it's our loss.

again, that's completely subjective. you are a sasha whore, right? the past 3 times i have seen sasha (all in 2006), i would say his track selection has been fair, if that. but that doesn't mean i think sasha is a horrible artist or has "worn out his sound."
some dj's/producers get into slumps...doesn't mean that they are e artists. and personally, i don't think producing songs with the same sound makes a producer . i personally like hearing a bassline in a club, whether it be armin or ian carey, and knowing right away that is their trademark sound. sure, it's great to be a little more creative...but the mafia has established "swedish house" which really didn't exist before they came around. whether you like it or not is one thing...but they definitely came out with something original.

and just for the record, here is a quote from steve from an interview a few months ago. i thought it was interesting and definitely defined what steve's all about. so many people think he's all about making it big and popular, but i know far too many other djs/producers that take a different route than the mafia to achieve that. and i agree with you about the popularity thing. i don't think djs who are "popular" are necessarily good. i'm still trying to figure out how pvd has been so popular all these years, but that's the majority for ya.

Skrufff : You've done lots of high profile remixes in recent months, such as Moby, how did you enter that major label remix world ?

Steve Angello : Firstly I've been a big fan of Moby since forever. The label approached me and asked if I wanted to do it and I just said 'Yes'; straightaway, without even asking how much money there was involved. That's how I work. If you would ask me to reix Jennifer Lopez and pay me fifty thousand I would say no straightaway. But if you were to ask me to Madonna and pay me ten thousand I would do it. I'm not the kind of guy who runs after the money all the time. I think it's more important to enjoy what you do, because if you enjoy it you can do it longer.

How do you know what they meant to do? Honestly?

Your post was madd quality, and I respect it, especially the "to each his own" theme, but please tell me how they've changed their sound over the past few years (with the exception of this one song.)

I really dont. Maybe thats all they are artistically as musicians. But my favorite producers are diverse and multi-faceted. To me sticking to one sound that is obviously getting popular is boring.

I get what you mean, a lot of times artists just never change for a while, and that does suck. Just look at Oakey :p

hell the last couple of times i've seen sasha...he's simply been out played by other dj's of the night. i'm a long time sasha fan, but i'm not afraid to say i don't like stuff when he doesn't do a good job...i really wasn't impressed by the last set i saw him play here about 2 months ago...

i don't think i ever said angello & ingrosso are producers...i'm sure they are very good in the studio. i said the end product is less than desirable and in my opinion its a waste of talent.

i love basslines...to me it's the driving force in music i like...imo the heart of the song. basslines isn't what makes a track bad or uncreative...have 50 productions and remixes in a year with the same sound makes them unimaginative and boring.

you're bringing in the dj thing which wasn't really a topic in this thread, but since you brought it up...my biggest complaint about dj's like angello & ingrosso or armin...the track selection they play imo is very boring. yes basslines are good...but 2 hours of the same bassline is boring...same complaint with armin...theirs no diversity in his sets. that's even the same complaint i had with that recent sasha set i didn't like...it was waaay too monotonous.

as for them establishing swedish house i can agree to that. there really hasn't been much talent out of scandinavian countries until the last couple of years, but that doesn't mean they are creative. they haven't really done anything that french house hasn't done the last 10 years except consistently make tunes with one sound giving people the impression that it's theirs...

i think that's exactly the point. they haven't had any change to their sound and that's why i said it's a trend. they haven't shown the fans any sign of artistic flexibility and i doubt we'll see much of it. this seems like an attempt at it, but its a very poor one...

best part ever, and throws in a percussion loop with not one but two Maudio trigger finger, and then uses the egg "walking something or other (dont know the name of that tune anymore) with it. I am really curious to hear wat PVD is doing with all this .

back to arguing how Angello and ingrosso have killed their own sound...its back to piano house bitches, you'll see.
trancEyes22
ha, this is the sole reason why i [and a lot of other people on here] stick to local forums. i just can't argue with people about taste...it's an endless argument, completely futile, and i won't waste my time doing it..

so yeah, carry on the hatred for my boys. i love them and that's all that matters. :toothless
