hate to be the first "not so positive" rewiewer here and I am pretty certain even the best flame suit won't hold of the flames I'm about to get but was I the only one not feeling it???
I mean the tracks he threw down were good but they lacked flow. and from around 7:30 - 9:00 the set just didn't seem to go anywhere. Why is every DJ who spins in NY feels they have to bring their "tech/house/prog" game to the show? I mean I liked some sweedish house mafia tracks he threw down, some of the harder stuff like "control freak" and few others but overall I was somehow expecting more. I guess I was spoiled by ASOTs that I've been listening to. Especially ASOT 250 (I was secretly hoping to get similar energy, flow, and consistency throughout).
LInes everywhere - beer, bathrooms, you name it. Had to walk 5 blocks just to avoid wating 1 hour in line to take a leak, place was crawling with bouncers, security, park police, nypd police, undercover narcs, etc. Felt like I was in a prison yard rather than at the party.
Though my hat's off to Armin for keeping the crowd moving most of the time. Poor Armin also did not look very good but he did a good job being a great host and wonderful performer (as he always is). I just wish he spent little more time playing trance and not tech/house/prog. It was not awful but wasn't perfect either. Somehow his sets outside of NYC tend to be slightly less... dark.
Left around 9:30, completely beat and somewhat disapointed.
Highlight of the night:
- Rapture
- control freak
- "you found yourself" (can't remember title)
- beautiful (f.corsten)
- PvD's choon (can't remember the name)
Few others I can't remember. I was hoping for Selu Vibra - Divine, Communication pt. 3, few other classics but sadly they were skipped.
BTW, anyone else thinks the beer was just GAWD ING AWFUL? All 4 varieties were friggin bitter and no other alchoholic beverages (unless you count cheap wine) were available - which SUCKED!
The view and location was terrific though, wish more parties were held there.
Overall experience for the night was 6/10
glad everyone else had a good time, though. |

Armin ended with Silence and I was close to tears...I totally feel the AvB love tonight but I still think yesterday was slightly better. I cannot believe people wanted another track after that...I personally couldn't handle another because of the emotional rollercoaster he put us through. Perfect place to end...also someone told me they saw Armin slightly crying at the end and that is why Armin turned away from the crowd at the end...
hey Keo_Nade I still have that damn song in my mind and it's so freakin sad :( :( |

if you left so early you didn't get the entire experience...i'm not belittling your opinion but it would have been optimal to stay until the end. i do agree the second half was random but i really think armin was testing out some tracks and of course the crowd. Plus I got the feeling people wanted harder darker beats I know I did toward the end. Anyhow, there were times i looked behind me and people were barely swaying, it's the responsible of the crowd to help pump up the dj and at times that crowd energy was lacking. People really got into him with those darker tracks...my two cents anyway...
fyi...dj boris was AWESOME |

ok... well guess what. he did drop selu vibra - divine, and he did drop communication... so yea, i guess you missed out..... lol.
by the way, pvd420, the track at 10:10 your wanting to id is probably,
O'Callaghan & Kearney - Exactly
and the 9:15ish one is definitely
Sean Tyas - Lift
I got to the doors right around 9:10 and lift came on shortly afterwards.
oh yea... and i love brooklyn brewery. who likes to drink light beer anyways... :stongue: |

| Had an amazing time, was on my feet almost the entire time. Although I have heard Armin spin better, he still did a good job and I enjoyed the crowd energy and overall experience. |

Armin was awesome!! Silence as the last song was amazing!!
Aalto - 5
Filo & Peri feat. Fisher - Ordinary Moment
Way Out West - Don't Forget Me
Scott Mac - Damager 02 (Mac Zimms Remix)
the only thing that sucked was that my boyfriend got handcuffed for pulling out the glowsticks when the sun went down!! wth?!? Charged for disorderly conduct for dancing with glowsticks?! wth?! that made my night suck around 9.30pm but we made the best of it. |

I agree with the bouncers. I left for the second time to take a piss. I come back and this giant fat black dude says i cant come in. I say why and he says that my camera is too profesional. I said they let me in before. He starts arguing with me that i cant come in. Me knowing myself better i just ignored him cause i wouldve started fighting with him and talked to a different bouncer. The other bouncer called some white dude and they let me in without any problems.

Avb Review 7/8 Saturday
First and foremost a big round of applause for NYCTA"ERS, Everyone on this board is really cool to meet, and so diverse, from all different ages and places its really cool to meet such a nice group of people, for those of us who are imported from clubplanet, what a diiference, no drama, nothing but really good people, look foward to meeting more of you guys/gals at PVD, everyone I spoke to was either on NYCTA or knew about it, so for those who were not really into it I must have sounded like a Sunday school preacher, saying how great this board is. I dont about you guys who say Trance is dead, or it was better in the 90's, the last 2 days were fine examples of how trance is alive and thriving especially here in the states. His sets were amazing, trance mix of damaged (no vocals), a really hard mix of shivers, communication part3, air for life A&B, zocalo(G&D), he was really on point, really-extremely humble-posing for photos coming out from behind the decks, thanking the crowd a million times. He really knew how to work the crowd, and that goes 2 ways because it was a crowd that really was into the music for the whole 2 nights. Note to the people at ULTRA, this is how you put on an event, no sound snafu's, wow how refreshing. The crowd was simply amazing, everyone who goes to WMC from New York had to be there, the whole scene was like something you would feel at Nikki Beach or Ultra. I know Im a big Tiesto guy (and alot of you arent)but this sealed the deal for me that Armin is #1 right now, mixing, song choice, everything was really good. What a great couple of days for Brooklyn and New York trance lovers, thius was as good if not better than any European crowd, and the atmoshere was unbelievable. Armin really enjoyed playing, I believe, because he could play Dibiza, and some tech-trance, Marcel Woods tracks to a NY crowd, as opposed to south america and EU, where they might not get it. ENCORE was SILENCE (delirium tiesto) whole crowd just sang along, he even cut the music and the crowd carried the tune, he didnt want to stop but the police made him because of the 11pm curfew, the cops were also nasty to him because he was singning stuff and talking to fans, and they told him to stop or he was going to be in trouble, Ive worked in law enforcement and these guys got to RELAX, they take their job way to seriously, this was a peaceful crowd, these guys were acting like it was ARage Against the Maching concert, anyway great night |

I dont understand really, Imean what more can you want out of an event, tell me what was betther than this, Ive seen trance energy/sensation crowds that moved less, and AVB played tons of trance, I mean Im really lost for words, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, But im 30, traveled all over Europe (ibiza), Miami, I cant think of a better set than this, Imreally stumped to as what you would want i lieu of his track selection |

| Yeah... imagine how security must look like after he goes up to the judge to tell him why he was charged with disorderly conduct... because he was dancing with glowsticks... just goes to show how retarded the security and police are... i never knew dancing, glowsticks, and having fun while not hurting anyone in the process is considered disorderly conduct?!?!?! |
