Did you end up liking the music selection toward the end? |

****FOLLOWING REVIEW WAS ADDRESSED TO MTL-TAs
There was a weekend (which I choked), where Ferry and PvD were playing in NY. Ferry was on a friday and PvD saturday... I was like biting myself for missing that.
March the 4th, browsing the net, looking for whatever... then for some reason I felt like looking at whats on NY-TA section. OMFGBBQWTF :eyespop: ARMIN ONLY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY early in july. You can be sure i bought my tix rightaway...
I left Mtl early friday at 6am in the morning with 5 friends. We got in NY by 2pm, in time to book the hotel room and prepare ourselves for the party. The event started at 4pm (Armin played from 5 to 11). On our way there, minkia we got lost in the city for a while. NY is so big. Be sure to bring a map if you plan to go there. We managed to find the right way and got there right when Armin started. The party was held in a old warehouse with no roof near under the brooklyn bridge. We had a nice view of the city and the river, especially at night. :p The local beer was HORRIBLE, Brooklyn Brew or some ...beeeuuuuurrrk. How stupid was i to buy 3 coupons for beer. (Yes we had to buy coupons that you had to exchange if you wanted alcohol) Like you know, the big drinker that i am wanted for once see Armin drunk (flash back tiesto @ metropolis)
Anyways don't try their beer if you find yourself in NY.
The event was organized by Made Event...I was expecting to see like 15000 people at the party...I'm not too good at counting crowds but I think under 5000 people attended the party each day. first I thought the venue wasn'T that good but when I realised that I wasn't at dancevalley, under that bridge was just perfect... and at night..OMG
I'm not gonna tell you all the little things that happend during the party.. just a few highlights:
Armin was playing piano with the lasers above his head on Sean Tyas - Lift Man I freak out when i saw this
This beats the jesus pose. LOL
He also danced behind the screen where VJs display their ed up vids. And of course he also went up front stage shaking hands with fans that all wanted a piece of him.
Friday, his set was more proggy than anything.. He played smooth till like 8pm then went trance and techy.. Was this a warm up for saturday ? Still he in blew everybodys mind.
Saturday, Hooo now he went berserk ! his prog part lasted only like 2 hours and then it was like crazy...Droping funken hot trance and techno track all over. Like there wasn't enough red bull on earth to keep you jumping all night. At the end after the "encore" track, he threw his headphones to the crowd ! :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:
the person who grabed them is so lucky.
Lol at the end, armin was writing autographs on whateevr people had.
There was this Italian guy screaming "HEYYYY !! HOooooo !!! HEyyyy...... Hooooooo..... HOOO !!!! .. HOoooo Heyyy!" lol for i don'T know what reason.. lol so funny.. try to picture it like how italian would scream that of course.
Negative point: one of the speakers blew up like 5 times in the weekend... and everytime Armin was lowering his monitors, the highs were cut from the front speakers... but it wasn't a big deal.
We were front row friday and saturday. Always an awesome time when you are near the DJ...we had like a special "connection" with Armin :haha: and he gave a special thanks to the canadians on ASOT today for coming to his gig in NY.
what else can i talk about ???
I met a couple of TAs, some from ottawa and toronto I think... some from NY.
Its a weekend to remember... Armin twice in a weekend totaly worth the cost of the trip. BEST WEEKEND EVER !!!
Too bad I didn't had much time to visit the city.
Anyways my cam has problems i think... the batteries died 2 times during the party saturday... I had to in run around in town to find batteries. and my memory card isn't big enough to carry pics and vids of a weekend in NY...
ok its late now.. I'm just writing whatever (don'T know if that review was nice enough) but if you feel like living a moment like i had... HERE
Ho and Armin and Ferry in TO for labour day..
and ferry at aria ... and .... :tongue3 :happy2:

Highly doubtful.
2003 and 2005 were pretty weak, in my opinion. :/ |

As was already said:
I was listening to A State of Trance 257 from 13-7-06 in Europe. About 32 min into the show Armin makes a comment that I will never forget.
And I Quote
"...I had the pleasure of meeting the producers in Chicago during the A State of Trance 2006 tour. I'd like to say hi to all the people currently listening in America and Canada that visited my gigs during the tour. Especially to the people in New York below the Brooklyn Bridge. My God. It was really a special night. Thank you so much for your support."
To Everyone who says the show sucked. IN YOUR FACE!!!!! |
