I LOVE IT!

i love how they are tightening the screws on that wack ass teeny bopper area. the mainstream - bring it back to the clubs that cater to real music heads and not the "i want to be seen" red rope treatment.

i lol at every event @ crobar - first hiphop opening the mainroom and people bitched and complained, then closing at 4am *waits for the bitching and complaining*

after my incident at crobar, i vowed to never set foot in there again...you know a place is going downhill when you can't even get in the place let alone all the connects you have for that night

no disrespect to bradley rose on this because i'm sure he's feeling the same pressure as the club is. much props for delivering to us on a weekly basis such a wonderful connect

I'd hardly say I love it. Actually, it's pretty disappointing no matter how you look at it.

First, if you like Crobar it sucks for obvious reasons. I've seen lots of good DJs perform there in the past few years and it sucks to watch it lose that appeal. Also, I've always had good experiences with the bartenders there, which are the only staff that I deal with besides the door people and there's only one of them which I don't care for.

Secondly, the bigger reason that you should care if you've vowed to never go there again is that with Crobar closing early, and Spirit and Avalon closing completely, is that the undesirable parts of the club world are running out of places to infest. They're left with Pacha as the remaining super-club that consistently brings in talent, and that will just speed up the process of how that place is going downhill (JP and Boris, upstairs blocked off with different music, etc.). The next thing you know, Love, Shelter, Cielo, Element, etc. that have been the more underground venues that you enjoy won't be so underground because people will need to find late night places to party and they're becoming few and far between.

those people you speak of, the ones seeking an 'after hours' spot that you say will 'infest' these underground venues.

how would they even know they exist? they certainly don't know it exist now. because large budget corporations and marketing agency's promote to hell the mega-clubs which draw that 'need to be seen' crowd.

i certainly don't want an overcrowded club love, but like i said in my other thread, if we remove the 'business aspect' of the club culture and leave it strictly as a preforming arts event which what it was during the Vynil/Arc days, you wouldn't have dresscodes, you wouldn't have red ropes or table service, you wouldn't attract those people seeking 'after hours' venues because they won't be marketted to. when you remove the business aspect of the club culture, you lose the marketing efforts, you downscale the availabilty, and your demographic is more focused on the true essence of the nightlife (or our type of nightlife for that matter).

business is science..it's something I do

well yes and no..... for the past few months the new Club Shelter has been kept under wraps, within its own underground deep house community.... noww.....

A) theres an afterhours there brought to you by the guys that brought SOL afterhours, Pink Elephant afterhours, Gypsy Tea afterhours, Trust Us Entertainment (all events that were cancelled or moved cos of drug problems or fights or both)

B) Made Events has a party there now later this month, and the commercialism of Made is farrrrrr beyond anyone else, and the vibe at their parties are usually either good or bad, very inconsistent

C) i have a party there in 2 months

...with that being said, as only one slight example, dont you think with Spirit and Avalon down the poopoo shoot, and Crobar getting there, dont you think the "undesirables" no doubt will penetrate into the clubs you seem to love and protect?.... aka with Lee Burridge's tour, dont you think Love is a certain possibility for his 3rd show, could you not see Made Event putting up a sick deal to Love and then succumbing to it? not only that, but even the Trust Us guys bringing their afterhours people to some of these spots (SOL was a trendy spot b4 they went there, Pink Elephant and Gypse Tea as well).... in a perfect world, it would be all about a performing arts mindset, but when theres a party to be had and money to be made and options dwindling, i think the same events you seem to not like maybe end up at a club near you

as I said before..and I will say it again... CROBAR and the NYPD. Not that interested in seeing lawler but what a waste of money if Armin ends at 4-4:30am. He has never ended early like that while he's in NYC. Last couple times..besides the Brooklyn gigs, he's ended around 7:30am-8am. So what's going to happen? Lawler starts at 2am and ends at 4am? haha..ridiculous. I know Lawler likes to spin lenghty sets too. Same with Armin..his set time is from 2am-4:30am?? I hope Made figures something out. :whip:

i dont know what ur incident was but i cant think of ne1 else who was turned down there, its very NOT-like the "red rope treatment" clubs of the area, and as far as " the mainstream", i dont see any underground, so we should enjoy the bearable "mainstream", according to you, that we have (unbearable mainstream being KTU parties)

I'll reiterate
digweed's night @cbar - me, dj tek, and a 'white guy' one of our friends went to crobar

tek did his thing and got us on digweeds personal list through the booking agency for comps, bradley rose hooked me up with comps, and he even hooked me up with a dude he knew at the door - totally cool.

story, didn't want to be all 'i got VIP status' so we stood on line like everyone else. dressed in normal jeans, fitted t-shirt and sneakers 2 asian dudes 1 white guy...the rope man said you 3 have to go home and change...tek jumped in and said we was on diggers list for comps, guy didn't want to hear it asked us to step off and said just go home and change and i'll let you right in. chill with that, i've been clubbing how long for me to hear those words? might work if i was a 19-20yr old.

bradley gave me the hook up and got me in on the table reservation line...much props for that...went to the table to get my comps when the rope dude turned around, made a scene, and said yo i thought i told you 3 to go home and change and instructed the bouncers to escort us out...

needless to say i walked away and didn't give a about that place anymore...straight up hated on!
