because all the yanks voted for him.

He is popular in America. But I dont think, DJ DAN got voted from the people around the world! Different from Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond and even Sasha.

pretty much true. Rankings have long been an obsession with the yanks, from best/worst cities to live in to which kind of baked beans cause most flatulence. Take some dedicated fans and anything is possible. Also many people who see him locally often are likely to vote for him in mass. A few years ago there were rumours of someone printing out the form for people visiting the clubs but i dont know if that was true or not.
Nell
that wouldn't suprise me ian, and yeah i forgot how obsessed american's are with ranking's.

This thread is stupid and most people who post in it have never even heard DJ Dan. Dan rocks the house and brings the crowds. ALWAYS.
Omega_M
But his ability to rock the house is not in question. What is, is his rank over Ferry and Sasha.

The rankings imply that he rocks the house better than these legends.

eh wtf? how do you know what i have and havent seen? i have heard dan on many occasion over the years and he's nothing really special imo. he is more of a has been imo.

and he may bring in the crowds, but only in the states, not in europe... hence my point that mainly americans vote for him.

yeah, I think the thing to get through (even with our mikey stunt last year) is that Anyone who gets people behind them, even a couple of thousand probably, has a chance of making it.

What we have got to get through to people is simple. This is JUST a list. This is NOT fact but opinion. PVD at number 1 is not 98 dj's better than Dave Clarke in 100th for example. There are thousands of DJs who please people and work their asses off for little to no recognition, and they need to be remembered. There are dj's who can play all manner of styles & sounds, but they dont look for limelight, just enjoy the music, after all that is what it's all about. The sooner people stop seeing this as anything more than glorified opinion, the sooner things will improve. Don't goto see a guy just cos he ranked say top 50 over someone who didn't, that's ignorant. Do people actually believe themselves over this?

No, it means he paid more to a PR/Marketing team this year.

Lol, true. But I'm not getting into *how* he beat them. I'm merely pointing out the implication.
Durrrtysouth
I think the "how" it was done needs to be addressed at some point. Especially by DJ mag. Everyone seems to accept the cheating but nobody wants to address it.
