Lisa, there are quite a few other options...many of which I knew very little about while I was on the pill.

I know one of the most common ones is getting the Deprova (sp?) shot. Personally for me, the cons outweighed the pros in that case.

Depo Provera is a nightmare... I tried it.. there's a reason why womens' bodies do what they do every month.. and I don't think it's healthy to play with that or stop it.
Personally, I am on the patch.. I've had no problems with it so far.. In fact, I like it better than the pill. Less side-effects (for me anyway). |

It just does.. it's like a band aid. Stays on in the shower, in the pool.. I literally have to peeeeeel it off every week.. it's awesome. It's not the sexiest looking thing, so I usually put it in a not-so-visible spot. |

Band-aids of mine always fall off though!! haha but I'll trust you. I'll inquire about it with my dr. But one last question...how much does it cost per month? |

Well that's the sucky part.. I have 90% coverage for prescriptions through work.. only my insurance company doesn't cover it. You are better off going to a health clinic.. Let me see if I can find out. I know they are super cheap there.

P.S. I wouldn't mind this male pill to come out...b/c I must say I am a bit worried about this whole "increasing risk of cancer" thing by being on the birth control pill for a long time. I'm at 6 years now and don't plan on having kids for quite a few more...so how much would that increase my risk?! I don't trust "just condoms" |
well, all the other things mentioned are also hormones which are the same as the bcp and therefore carry the same risk of cancer. what you are looking for are like diaphram and stuff like that. the sponge maybe? lol. |

There's a fair bit of discussion in that link about IUDs...IUDs seem to be making a comeback for some reason. There was an article in last month's Women's Health about the new IUDs as well. |
