I agree with that, just look at Club Exit (circa 2001)...to "me" that was one of the nicest looking venues i have ever seen (when it was emoty early in a night) but when it got packed with those dip kids it was unbearable. |
Yes, the main room in Exit then was really cool with great lighting and a high open ceiling. Plus, there was a nice view looking down on it from the White Room and the rest of the second floor. I agree, often times it's not the venue itself, but the crowd that changes the dynamic of the party. Before Crobar opened to the public, a friend of mine gave me a tour of it top to bottom. I was blown away by now nice each room was. I loved the Reed Room and the 'tunnel' to the main room. They put a lot of thought into the setup even if it was as simple as having enough bathrooms for women! I described it to friends as a grown up playground. Compared to Avalon, Arc, Roxy, Spirit, and even Marquee the space was aesthetically and structurally a league apart. |

For the most part, I agree with you, but a few quick things.
Quivver was on a Wednesday night.
I don't think Stereo isn't going to be underground, either. I base this thought on their open call for staff description
Personally, I don't really care if it is or isn't underground, I just hope they have good music and that the crowds don't get too obnoxious. |
wow I didnt know there was going to be a Stereo in NYC now. Stereo in Montreal has generally been called the Twilo of this era by people that I know who have been there. I hope it has the same impact in NYC that it does in Montreal - superior djs in a supreme dance environment with amazing lights and atmosphere. |

yep i see ur point, and i totally wouldnt go out on a wednesday night but some1 whos got love for the underground goes to an underground party if its on wednesday night... support for that party means that next time, if it does well this time, itll be on a friday :) idealistic, yes, but i hope u see what im saying (in regards to when people "want the underground back")... correct me if im wrong but some of the best and most legendary underground parties in new york club history (altho i wasnt there, doesnt mean i cant see pics and read reviews of them) werent on the regular fridays and saturdays |
The reason they're underground is because they aren't on Fridays and Saturdays, which weeds out a lot of people, even ones who would normally be right at home in underground events. |

some of you guys need to relax, the world of clubs is fickle, clubs will close and open up all the time, trust me i live in miami. it is a little disconcerting that a megaclub like crobar is going down, but sooner or later one will come its steed. the writing is on the wall down here for space to close up(condos), but people will still find a way to party.
i will concede that the edm scene on a whole in america seems to be on a downslope, but everything is cyclical. in a city as big as nyc there is always going to be a place to pick your brand of poison. |

No one would mind if we had the number of clubs that Miami has. And it's not just Crobar. If they go, 3 of the 4 megaclubs that did EDM parties will have closed in the last few months, leaving only Pacha. |

| Im shocked at how many people take an article in the gossip column of the post for the honest truth. The paper is practically a tabloid folks. I think distribution of chill pills is in order here . |

Yea Crobar sucks..You have a place where Trance (or maybe any other genre for the big names) can be played in New York? Pacha? For how long do you think? Crobar closing to me looks like losing DJs coming to New York..They have less options now...Avalon is gone..And Spirit is practically gone for EDM I think...Pacha is really the powerhouse club left..Boo. |

space and mansion r the only megaclubs in town. and when the 24hour district closes, that will leave pretty much the beach, which isnt that great anymore. miami is great dont get me wrong, but its not the club paradise some of you guy's make it out to be. |

I dont think everyone is taking it to heart quite yet, but the idea that it would close down is simply stirring up a discussion about the club scene and what it would be like with or without Crobar. No one is getting their panties in a bunch yet ;) |

What about Nocturnal, Spin, Twilo, Pawn Shop, Crobar and B.E.D. off the top of my head? |

those arent mega clubs. spin was reopened for wmc05' only, now its called suite. not a big club. twilo just opened but their big nite is a gay nite. crobar is closed till conference. B.E.D. is nothing special, has some cool nites during WMC but thats it. nocturnal is in the red, and is run by a bunch of schmucks, and can only bring a crowd on saturday morning. yeh there are alot of clubs, but space and mansion r the only bigdogs. |
