I've seen both I like the us version It really depends on if you like english/british humor I suppose. I do but there is something dark and gloomy about the usa version. When I first started watching I didn't think it was funny but it grew on me. At first none of the jokes and humor were funny but now they all are. People generally like to watch stuff in there own accent its the same in my case. I'm racist.

I've seen both, I like both.

Never seen the British version but the US one is awesome.

I loved the UK version, and during the first season of the US I couldn't stand it. Not suprisingly, a rediculous amount of the events were copied nearly exact from the UK version and 'Americanized', if you will.

However, that said I think from Season 2 and onward it's just become better and better (both in terms of humor and storyline). At this point I think I enjoy watching the US version a little more than the UK, and that's saying alot considering how great the UK version was. I'm not sure if anything in the US version can top Brent fusing 'Flashdance with Mc Hammer ' :stongue: but I think Dwight's speech at the sales convention in season 2 comes pretty close...

This sort of makes me brew. (And I mean that with no offense aimed at you - it's clearly not your fault in the slightest.)

It's very frustarting to see a very 'original' piece of comedy 'adapted' to another set of viewer's point of view - without said viewers being subjected to the original source beforehand. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does. Maybe it's because I think Steve Carell is about as funny as AIDS? Or maybe it's because 'The Office' should quite clearly have never taken the direction that it has done in the US - the direction that Ricky Gervais never wanted it to go; and as such refused to be involved with it.

My 2 penneth worth. Save them up and by yourselves a clue.

You need to get off your high horse, because you're just spewing out of your ass and its making quite a mess. The style of the Office and a strikingly similar type of humor is directly ripped from Christopher Guest's mockumentaryies: This Is Spinal Tap, Waiting For Guffman and Best in Show. As for the office humor, that was previously done by Office Space. To say The Office was some groundbreaking or "very original" piece of comedy is the equivilent of me saying Gabriel and Dresden are pioneers of EDM. Also, the writing wasn't even that great in the Biritish version, the whole show simply piggy-backed on Ricky Gervais' character, which was indeed original and hillarious. The story archs aren't even comparable between the US and British version.

I have no idea why you think American viewers must be subjected to the British version first, as the American version is a very different take. The American version is everything an adaptation should be, a new take on previous material. In fact, you could definently argue the American version would've been terrible if it sought to replicate the British version.

As for Carell, you are in the minority on that one.

it's not funny at all. Ricky gervais "humour" never ever has done it for me since he was ok in skits on the 11 o'clock show back in 1998 ish. And then it was only for calling people wankers or s on tv.

Why do you think I put quotation marks around the word original you thick twat? I was using the term loosely. But if I could just elaborate on your point that the American version was a 'new take on previous material' - the first few episodes of the American version were almost carbon copies of the British version. Have you not seen the first series?

I meant that in regards to what HE thinks! The guy that always starts threads asking for help and recommendations, and then NEVER says thanks! He's a twat.

In saying that, I will probably find myself looking at this tomorrow when I am sober and apologising to him. Oh well.
