Tell me this...why do you think there was a need for an American version, if the British version was already hilarious and well received?
Because Americans wouldn't get a lot of the jokes from the original version, so therefore it is WATERED DOWN so you can understand.
Fuzzy logic

'Never apologise. Never Explain.' I think it was either Thatcher or Churchill - possibly both - that used to say this. Wise words.

It's because you're American and don't get the humour (unless it's plastered across walls and shoved in your face). You will find some Americans preferthe BBC version, but I'm pretty sure you'll NEVER find any British people who prefer the American version to the BBC one. The US one just took a great show and watered it down for Americans to understand, and in doing so, ruined it. Carell is as funny as walking on hot coals.

The BBC one is just a lame 'comedy' created so that British people can understand it, the Americans took a ruined show and made it a great show . Ricky Gervais is as funny as walking on hot coals.

really, well im sure your poop looks like a rainbow and tastes like strawberry sherbet. And that you also have 3 arms, boils on your skin, and are currently still completing grammar school.
first detach yourselves from the British humor nuts that you cling so tight to, read a little deeper into my posts, and then try to notice any sarcasm or irony.
ps, ive never seen any version of the office.

Hahaha niceone boomer :p

I've seen all three version! Uk Us and French.
Most offensive, rude, vulgar French and UK
Obnoxious well ... they all are, each in their own ways.
I still think the UK version wins hands down.
"David Brent" the boss is such an obnoxious character I have never felt so much hate directed at a character on tv.
He's the kind of guy you'd beat up on sight :stongue:
The US version isn't bad but it's very light compared to the UK version.
Way too polished and excessively toned down ( at times too PC for my taste ) because making excessively vulgar statements on US tv networks doesn't work out too well.
ps: I'm not particurlaly a fan of British or American comedy, or any comedy for that matter as I usually find them all feeding excessively on other peoples differences and being offensive in every possible way.

One of the many very funny moments from the Christmas special! Makes your toes curl.
There are also really sad clips too, that are almost depressing to watch.

Haha, after watching some eps of the UK version, I find it as good/funny, just a different sort of humour which the limeys find funnier than the yanks.
