I have a question guys.

Is it taboo to take a song and just loop parts of it? For example, I like a lot of the Electro that is out, but most of the time they kick into some sort of vocal breakdown.

For a DJ, Is it ok to just play the intro into the main beat/rhythm and just loop that? Assuming you still give credit to the producer..

Just wondering :)

Thanks!

You need a little of this...

Hey,

I was asking more of it's social acceptance rather than how to do it technically.

I use Ableton and if I find myself only likely about 32 bars of something, I loop it... rather than throwing it away due to vocals or something annoying. You are more or less remixing at that point. You can only loop something for so long before its boring. I'll cut up a bunch of different points of the song, and put it all back together. Maybe add some additional rhythms.

I'm not a DJ or Producer. I take the latest songs that I like and blend them. It allows me to interact with the music and create an environment that fits the mood.

Some people play video games or watch movies in their spare time.. I blend house, techno and psytrance :)

Thanks for the response guys!

Absolutely brilliant mix from a TA. Lush! Melodic lush emotional funky feel-good mix. And lots of warm fuzzy feelings from this set.
First 20mins is some of the best music I've heard this year.

LWE Podcast 10: Andomat 3000

:eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

Andreas Wiegand didn’t have much to say when answering our interview questions, but critics and clubbers alike have been quite noisy in their appreciation for his music as Andomat 3000. Retooling his career after years as DJ Mahatma, Wiegand (and Jan) turned heads with the massive “L Delay” for Cadenza, and he’s only gotten better since. His barbed and tightly laced “Cognitive Dissonance” helped propel Cécille Records into the spotlight before splashing his tracky, jazz-influenced aesthetic across releases and remixes for Four:Twenty, Platzhirsch Schallplatten, Poker Flat, Einmaleins Musik, REKIDS, and Cocoon, among others. For our 10th podcast, Wiegand opted for an exclusive live set crafted solely with unreleased tracks, offering a spectacular keyhole view into the future sounds of Andomat 3000. Given the nature of this beast the tracklist is necessarily sketchy, but few will have time to care when the irresistible, pumping rhythms draw you far from your computer.
