It doesn't. Maybe I'm just jaded but in my 6 years of going to Guv, I have NEVER seen a line up like that guest list wise. I think I should show up for Ferry at 6pm....I just might...(HUGE maybe)

quick and dirty review from me:

Orkidea: kicked ass, my favourite set from the night!
Some faves of mine he played:
Andy Moor vs Orkidea - Year Zero (Andy Moor's mix)
Super8 and DJ Tab - Suru (Original mix) (was VERY happy about this one!!)
David West - Make U Mine (Original mix)
Albert Vorne - Formentera What (Gareth Emery mix)

ATB: very very disappointed by the mixing... good god... some AWESOME tracks were played, but in very wrong order, sudden bpm changes, key clashes everywhere (especially when he brought in the 9pm guitar riff, ugh)
Some faves of mine he played:
Sonorous - Glass Garden (Original mix)
Mike Shiver - Morning Drive (Original mix)
Above and Beyond - Far from in Love (Original mix)
Riva - Stringer (Original mix) (this KILLED me, I can't believe he dropped it... I went sooo nuts)
DT8 Project - Hold Me 'til the End

Infected Mushroom: I only saw the first part because I went over to see Planet of the Drums @ Kool Haus (which kicked ass! I will never miss Dieselboy), but it looked like it was shaping up well and the crowd was really into it, I'll let someone else comment about them.

J00F: pumpin' energy, pretty damn good... when he dropped whatever remake of Binary Finary - 1998, holy , that was awesome. I left early because the set was getting a little too stale for me, nothing really drew me to stay.

The Crowd: wow.. waaayyy too crowded during ATB, I'm guessing mostly with people who know the track 9pm (and screamed whenever he dropped the riff) and knew nothing else he played. The shoving/walking thru was horrible (at least where I was), but the place wasn't unbearably hot. The other rooms were a lot less crowded.

Overall I enjoyed the night, I showed up pretty early (10:30) so I got in within an hour after arriving, so no big lineup complaint from me.
hardcore trancer
  :eyespop:

Basically:

J00F > Everyone else

Oh how I wish he played all night long :(

p.s J00F played one of my fav songs that I have been dying to hear in a club. The tune was:

Binary Finary - 1998 (Protoculture remix) :eyes:

- the drink was ing retarded amazing, FLG, Mark Knight, Seb, and M&S... so many tunes, honestly. In a lot of ways the future of music was played out in that room...

- the drink (although incredible) was also a sauna, and by that I mean the closest thing I have ever come to being in a steam bath with my clothes on. wow

- the D&B in the koolhaus melted my face off. I don't know what ing stereo was in that place but HOLY MOTHER.

- it was for me, without a doubt the busiest I've seen Guvy complex. There was this crazy overwelming energy all night, a general sense of a LOT of happening that is all "good times". People came to party, there was no warmup at all.

Agreed on both points.
Too bad we never crossed paths Jon: it's been a while...

i agree on that....the drink was absolutely rocking all night too bad it was about 500000000000000000000000000000000000000 degrees in there.

and.....i have seen guv WAY busier then that....like there was actually room sometimes to walk without crashing into like 200 ppl, ive been there when you cant even move let alone walk

I think I share most of the comments thus far.

I was impressed suprisingly with the Orange Room's sounds last night... fancy slammin breaks & the odd house track pumping away in there... not a problem getting grooves there.

I spent little time in the Drink cuz it was ugly hot in there but the bit that I did sounded simply great.

Did anyone else notice that the stairway from drink TO skybar was acting like a smoke stack to let off the steam from the drink! WOW.

SPeaking of skybar...it was rather funky up there too... but the sound system can't be as loud so i just doesn't hold as much powerful "umph" as the indoor rooms can.

I'm rather impressed and pleased with the renovations. They tend to accommodate people much better... esp in high traffic.

Has anyone else mistaken the door-shaped mirror to the left of the DJ booth in Gallery for an actual doorway? I kinda walked into it.

I think I'll be pleased to see Ferry in June @ skybar. There wasn't enough of my kind of trance in the place last night

After a lengthy breakfest, I think it's time for a proper review.

First, the line ups. Even though I am not a personal fan of people repeating things over and over again (can someone please post today's ASOT?), I think everyone who attended this should feel obligated to bitch about the line ups. Absolute horror show. I can understand a horror show at TIL, Footwork etc when a lesser known DJ is in town and draws a bigger crowd than a big name DJ. But come on, this is the guv, this is supposed to be a worldwide recognized elite club. No organization, a bus to curve the guestlist line... gimme a break. On top of that, the staff was very rude and not helpful at all during the situation (actually the first time I've seen a whole crew of bouncers be that rude).

Once finally in, I caught the last moments of Orkidea's set. I remember him spinning:
Oxia-Domino
Way out West-Killa (Orkidea Remix)
Orkidea-Beautiful (Alt+F4 Remix)

Really good energy to his set and I could tell his programming was spot on. Definetely want to see him again, I didn't expect him to be that good. No comment on ATB and Infected Mushroom. ATB didn't even DJ and IM were like the worlds biggest rockstars if Ralph Nadar had been elected in 1992. Just everywhere.

I temporarly vanished off with Hardcore Trancer to the KH, Gallery, Drink and Skybar just for a change in scenary. Had never been to the skybar and really liked the concept. Sasha/Lawler up there must have been something else!

Anyhow... main event of the evening... John 00 Fleming. Holy cow! Not disappointed at all. Great energy on the decks, perfect mixing and super crazy psy trance. Some tracks I remember;
Pete Gawtry vs. James Alexander-'Lost In You' (The Digital Blonde Remix)
Binary Finary- 1998 (Protoculture Remix) :eyespop:
Infected Mushroom vs. Astrix-'Monster'
Perry O'Neil-Gravity (ID Remix)

> TERRIBLE line up... took us 2.5 hours to get in.

> #1 J00F
#2 The Rogue Element
#3 Planet of the Drums

> best dj by far last night was J00F... massive energy and tunes. really kept my feed pounding. Amazing dj, and totally into the music behind the decks... ing awesome.

> The Rouge Element a very very close second. Played a fairly techy/electroish breaks set... Awesome tunes really got me bouncing.

> Planet of the Drums were pretty good, although after stickin' around for a big chunk of their set to me it felt like they went too dark + hard for too long. After a while it just got tiring.
