were did they stick the headliners in the guv now that they have done the renovations?? is there a different stage now or a proper booth front and center in the main room?

The first large chunk of my night truly sucked: I could not get the right buzz and vibe going (I apologize if I didn't seem like the happiest person during this period); later on in the night things got better.

A few highlights:
--Partying with Derek on his bday.
--Partying with a bunch of TAs (Dan, Jenn, Catalina, Robert, Tyler, Sasha, Shanny, Jess, Gels, Stefan, Colton, Yuri, Alex, Marta, and so on...you guys know who you are).
--JOOF's set (although I did not enjoy the first bit of what he spun (it all sounded the same to me), he definitely picked it up and had a killer second half).
--This was my latest party (i.e., 8:45am).
--Chilling on the speaker during the last 45 mins or so of JOOF's set (it was the first time I had felt the rumble of the bass from the speaker go through my body).
--A friendly female TA recognized me and kindly remarked that she routinely sees my smiling face on these forums :D

Less positive, more negative aspects of the night (besides the first few hrs whereby I did not enjoy myself) included my lack of being impressed with the Guv main room renovations, the inappropriate overcrowding (it was, at numerous times throughout the night, simply ridiculous), and the heat. Also, it is too bad I didn't manage to have many pics taken.

Thanks to all the familiar faces and those who have now become familiar faces for being a part of my night (and 1) thank you Jess for accompanying me to coat-check and 2) thank you Stefan for chilling with me for that good hour/hour and a half).

HAPPY BDAY DEREK!

Haha, this was my first time out to Guvy in a long long time. Stood in line for 2 hours, and bailed. It was also my last :D

Bottom line

Partying in Europe >>> Partying in Canada

p.s. Glad who ever got in had a good time!
Special K
did mark knight play last night?!

he missed his gig @ stereo on friday ...
beefy k
I'm glad I didn't go. You would think that the organizers would try to make it a better partying environment with all the renos and all, but no.

I don't want to breath people's perspiration for 4 hours or more. I'll just listen to music elsewhere.

you nailed that right on the head, I got to that room early on in the night, danced for a bit and stayed away the rest of the night... retardedly hot.

- the D&B in the koolhaus melted my face off. I don't know what ing stereo was in that place but HOLY MOTHER.

A-MEN. I was standing in front of the main stage area taking it all in and the sound rocked my ing socks off. I don't think I have ever music sound that good before. Wow! I LOVE DNB!!

And now.. to my night. Showed up at 10, got in by 1030. Guv renos are fairly interesting. The new light wall above the main bar is pretty neat. Not to sure I'm fond of the huge stage area.. seems to cut into dancing space (unless of course, it's open to everyone when it's not being used). Looks like the dj booth is still up in the sky, but we can see the dj alot better now, so thumbs up for that. The light show was terrible. No lasers whatsoever (you think they'd make it a priority to get that setup asap) and they didn't seem to use those huge lighting trusses much (or move them up and down like they usually do). I was also sad at the absense of the guv horn. Hopefully it is like the lasers and just isn't reinstalled yet. First time even hearing Infected Mushroom, let alone seeing them. I had no idea they were a full band. Absolutely incredible. I really enjoyed their performance. J00F was outstanding. Awesome remixes of Hey Boy Hey Girl and Children made my night a little better. Never heard of Orkidea before, but I was impressed.

First time up in Sky Bar and I loved it. The air was very cool, but not too cold... perfect. I planned on catching Syndey Blue, but ended up missing her. I did end up catch the last 15 minutes of Barrato's set.

KH was just off the hook. Shy FX killed it. There is just something about drum n' bass that made me smile and dance uncontrollably. We need more dnb events in Toronto. I also really like the screens they had setup. They were fun to watch while I danced the night away. The lights in KH was cool as always.

Caught some of Robb G in the gallery. Some dirty tunes that I just couldn't get away from. Don't you hate when you plan on going to another room at a certain time, but aren't able to pull yourself out of the first room?

As said before, The Drink was uncomfortably hot and busy, but I still enjoyed sets from FLG, Mark Knight and Deko-ze - most while chilling in the room next to the stairwell/bathrooms. A good way to listen to The Drink and not put up with being squished/sauna-fied.

All things considered for being my first all access night... fantastic. Well worth the 90 minute drive. As said before, uncomfortably busy in spots (The Drink, Guv), but it was still fairly easy to get from one room to the next. I expected huge lineups that involved waiting, so I was pleasantly suprised ;) It was nice to meet Provocative_boi and Mark as well.

... almost went to the zone after to pop my cherry, but my body was just too f'n sore.. I don't know how guys do both!

edit: perhaps I should listen more clearly when someone tells me who they are.
