get there at 10 and you wont be in line for 2-3 hours... what do you expect when u get to the club at 12 or later.

my friend went to gallery to set up his at 9 and when he came back home he told me the lineup was already huge. we went back at 11, got inside in under 2 minutes, walked trough kh and people were still setting up equipment (speakers, lights etc) so maybe that was the reason for long lineup.

i was in the gallery for turts' set and i went to the drink where i spent the rest of the night. i was gonna see freeland but what was happening at the drink was too good to be missed. i mean whoa. seb and mark were way too good. and the girls up there...... jesus...... yeah it was so hot, i couldnt stop sweating 30 minutes after i left guv but it was worth it. last night at the drink was simply amazing !

i went to gallery for maybe 20 min just in time to hear robb g play some of the most vile breaks ever. UNF. it was awesome seeing so many asian ladies bustin' a move to breakbeats lol.

after drink closed i spent some 20 min in the guv, waiting for people to gather so we can go home. them 20 min made me really paranoid (and no, i wasnt high). way too many weird people (and im not talking about good weird people) doing really weird . i never seen anything like that before. and everybody was dancing offbeat i swear to god lol.

how was freeland????

emilio, you was there???????????

well i woke up at 2:30am on sunday morning and worked from 5:30am to 6pm.. so was just a liiittle tired. glad i got there early as i heard people were spending hours in line.

i never have bitched about guv being crowded before, but this was worse than ever. i feel bad for you short people :) i just learned to ignore the dripping sweat and the pushing rather than getting distracted by both all the time. the atmosphere was still good overall though, a lot more beautiful girls than usual too ;)

i was impressed with orkidea, great start to the night. I didn't get as much time to stop and really listen to atb.. was giving some guv first-timers a tour around and unsuccessfully trying to find some comfortable dancing space somewhere.

infected mushroom was my #1 reason for coming. i've been listening to them since i was a kid, the first EDM i was into, and just had to finally see their live act. i know a lot of people don't like them and i kind of expected their performance to be nothing like the quality of their production. but i was proven wrong as they rocked out like there was no tomorrow. i went nuts to becoming insane and deeply disturbed, their first 2 tracks, and just HAD to go cool off for awhile after... nothing burned me out that fast before.. but in a good way :) they made my night for sure

didn't get a chance to spend much time in orange room, nothing caught my attention as i passed through though

saw shy fx for about 15 mins. i don't know much about dnb nor have i ever seen it lived, it seemed okay but i was frustrated that the track changes like every 30 seconds.. there's some kind of buildup or breakdown and then a sick beat plays for 4 bars then they start all over again

watching the sun rise on skybar was amazing. i just wish the music was a little louder up there. not sure if thats due to the noise levels they're allowed to have or the fact that theres no ceiling bouncing off the sound.. but regardless got me pumped for ferry :)

spent a lot of time in the drink, as hot and crowded as it was.. mark knight was INSANE dropping sick beats.. and deko-ze was killer closing it.. i know that goes without saying :)

j00f was my reason for coming second to IM.. and i loved his closing set.. even though something slower progressive and banging like schulz last month would have done it better for me, he had a lot of energy to keep peoples fists pumping until close.

overall i give the night 9/10... would be 10 if the whole complex wasnt a cluster for the whole first few hours. and like decadence it seemed like there was too much talent simultaneously and it takes awhile to 'change channels' in guv :p... but what can you do

i wanted to go to CZ after but it would have been too much of a mission... sigh i will have to break my virginity there some other time.. sure a lot of you guys are having a blast there as i write this

some random funny moments:
-seeing someone get knocked the out by a flying elbow when IM started
-walking straight into a mirror in the gallery at 4am.. oh man!
-skazns pointing a flash light in one of their own's eyes, moving it around fast as the kid's pupils followed it super fast... until his eyes rolled back and he looked like he passed out for a sec
-my friend and i came across each other on the dance floor and he asked for my water and i passed it to him.. some random guy watching thought we didnt know each other and then casually put his hand out for the water just as my friend did.. i kind of just looked at him awkwardly and said "no".. then he hung his head in shame and slowly walked away

Overall, I was pretty disappointed. Why the HEll did ATB spin from 1am to 3am, he totally sucks, and Orkidea at 11pm, Orkidea was by FAR the best DJ of the night, and had the worst timeslot. He played some awesome tracks, everything that i expect from him. ATB, was so boring, his set would be good for a club like Paparazzi or something , or any other downtown club. His set was all over the place, very up and down, it had no flow to it at all. Infected Mushroom was his usual self, nothing new ( for me ), but my fioncee loved his set :). We left early, so never got to hear who we came to see the most JOOF. 5am was wayyyyy to late for a DJ like him to come on at, I think the guvernment and Infected Mushroom have an agreement or something, cuz he is ALWAYS there, and JOOF never spins there, JOOF should have been on at 1am, and not ATB, ATB should have been on at 5am!.

The first large chunk of my night truly sucked: I could not get the right buzz and vibe going; later on in the night things got better.

A few highlights:
--Partying with Derek on his bday.
--Partying with a bunch of TAs (Dan, Jenn, Catalina, Robert, Tyler, Sasha, Shanny, Jess, Gels, and so on...you guys know who you are).
--JOOF's set (although I did not enjoy the first bit of what he spun (it all sounded the same to me), he definitely picked it up and had a killer second half).
--This was my latest party (i.e., 8:45am).
--Chilling on the speaker during the last 45 mins or so of JOOF's set (it was the first time I had felt the rumble of the bass from the speaker go through my body).
--A friendly female TA recognized me and kindly remarked that she routinely sees my smiling face on these forums :D

Less positive, more negative aspects of the night (besides the first few hrs whereby I did not enjoy myself) included my lack of being impressed with the Guv main room renovations, the inappropriate overcrowding (it was, at numerous times throughout the night, simply ridiculous), and the heat. Also, it is too bad I didn't manage to have many pics taken.

Thanks to all the familiar faces and those who have now become familiar faces for being a part of my night (and thank you Jess for accompanying me to coat-check).

HAPPY BDAY DEREK!

Aaaaah man, sorry I didn't see this till now. Ya, I took the gamble and bailed for this one. Turns out I totally called it saying Joof over ATB any day. I was glad to hear that the Joofs is finally stretching his legs and spinning his brand of eclectic Trance. kudos! Especially in front of the long time following he must have had from all those WEMF appearances. Sorry I missed you bud! We'll shake it soon, that much I know.....

wow great night

got there at around 12ish, the line was ing insane. I never seen the line so big, it stretched all the way to gallery entrance to guv entrance. There was actually another smaller line at kool haus but i guess most ppl didnt know that...

Got in to hear the end of Orkidea's set, sounded pretty nice to me but i only stayed for a couple mins. Kinda wish we came earlier (i would if set times were POSTED) so that I could hear all of his set.

ATB ... hhmm he was ok, not great not ty... definately had some very good parts, and some were kinda meh. Lots of pushy ppl which got annoying from time to time. He finished nicely with 9pm and some other classic song.

After atb finished we walked around to check other rooms, never really felt the music in orange room. But gallery wooww siick sick sick breaks couldnt stop moving, who was the dj there at 3am?

Next went to KH for some pumping dnb, wow totaly crazy as soon as i walk in TC was ripping it up, ing insane, a little too loud but very good none the less.
Planet of Drums: HOLY ING , TOOTALY RIPPED IT, LOVED EVERY SECOND SOO MUCH ENERGY AND SO PUMPING OMG, DEFINATELY WANA SEE THESE GUYS AGAIN. and i got to hear PENDULUM - BLOOD SUGAR!!!!! wooooooooooo

JOOF: totaly met my expectations, soo melodic and at the same time psyish and bumping, soo good got to hear
Joof vs Wizzy noize - CYDONIA!!! totaly made my night
ALso "open your eyes" song holy shiiiiiiiit totally took me away, he had so many cool and trippy sounds and melodic slowdowns omg. and then when sunshine started shinning into guv at around 6 40am, he droped some remix of "last train to trance central" holy , kinda looked like the sunrays were part of the music...
he was so crazy behind the decks, totaly working the crowd and loving it. He has to come back again, JOOF WAS AMAZING!!!

overall: 10/10

A JUNGLIST'S REVIEW:

Oh man. Last night was soooo amazing. It sucks to see all these negative reviews from the trancers and househeads.

Idma and I had an interview with Planet of the Drums (Dieselboy, AK1200, Dara and Messinian) which was an adventure on it's own, LOL! We got in guv at around 1 and caught Shy FX with Stamina MC. It was definitely a crowd pleasing set. Sooo many good tracks were dropped. Andy C - Body Rock was wiiiiiikkid.

At around 2:45, the man I was waiting for finally came on. TC!!!! Wow wow wow. He opened with DJ Die - Get Closer, which made me EXTREMELY happy! That is one of my favourite tracks. He also played Jump, Flatline, and Where's my Money. I went outside for a few minutes, but then decided to run back inside just in case he dropped the track that I was waiting to hear in a club all year. As SOON as I entered KH, he started to play the track!!! TC feat. Jakes - Deep. OMGOMGOMG. I ran to the dance floor and went crazy.
"Deep, Titanic, make the dance panic. One a penny, two a penny, vibe you can't manage. Pure nasty habit, sadness I can't have it. Do your move, bust a style. Raver dance rapid."
*droooooooools*
I think it was actually TC & Jakes feat Dynamite MC – Deep (Roni Size VIP) (D Style), and I didn't appreciate that mix as much as I would have if it had been the original track, but whatever. I was still incredibly happy.
The only complaint that I had about Tom is that he seemed like a chav who was really full of himself. It was his first time here though, so I will let it go. This time. I wish that his set was longer. I wanted to hear him play some tracks that weren't *only* his. He has good mixing skills. Andy C definitely knew what he was doing when he decided to help him in this scene. ;)

At about 4:00, it switched from TC's fun jump-up to intense dark, dirty DnB from Planet of the Drums. Once again: WOW! I remember sitting down, and I could definitely tell that they were starting to play. POTD sounded much more deep and conglomerate than any of the other sets that I heard. One of the tracks that I really enjoyed from them was Adam F - We Want Your Soul (Ed Rush & Optical Mix). I was extremely impressed with these guys.

Saigon went on at about 5:45, which sucked because he could only spin for about fifteen minutes (KH shut down at 6:00). His mini-set was good though. Props to him for keeping everyone on the dance floor until the end.

Some other DJs that I heard were ATB, Orkidea (not for long though) and IM. They were all meh. Nothing special. It wasn't worth it for me to hang out in a sardine-packed sweaty sketch room and listen to that . From about 6:30 till 7:15, I tried to listen to J00fie. As much as it hurts me to say this, I did not really enjoy his set. I just couldn't get into it. I wasn't really feeling the music, and the sound system wasn't too great. Sorry Jonathan. I still love you, and will give you another chance.

There was an amazing vibe in KH. Definitely not something that I noticed in any of the other rooms. Everyone in KH was having fun. There was room to dance, and the sound was brilliant (thanks for the ear plugs, Idma).

Tracks that made my night complete:

TC & Jakes feat Dynamite MC – Deep (Roni Size VIP) (D Style)
Shy Fx - Original Nuttah (Aphrodite Remix)
Adam F - We Want Your Soul (Ed Rush & Optical Mix)
Andy C - Body Rock
DJ Die - Get Closer
TC - Jump
TC - Where's My Money
TC - Flatline
Pendulum - Blood Sugar
TC - Rockstar (LOVE that track a lot as well)
Mr. L - Roots (feat. Super Fly Seven)

(There are more, but I have to remember the names. I am still overwhelmed, lol).

Overall, I give the night in Kool Haus a solid 10/10. I was looking forward to this event as soon as I heard about it, and was not disappointed. It was everything I thought it would be, and more.

Stupid lineup was nightmares. At least the coach bus engine kept me warm for a brief moment while I got high off the CO2.

Too many headliners in one night. Orkidea pwned ATB. By the time he went on the main room was a dirty sweaty sardine can. managed to catch all of Adam Freeland. He was incredible as usual. I like this set better then the stuff he did last year opening for the Prodigy. I actually had room to dance and discover that my pills didn't work at all :(

We bounced at 3am and went to the Funhaus for some nice relaxing industrial goth music.... yeah don't ask.

Shoulda gone to Yahel. At least there woulda been room to dance!

Tunnel Rat
Summary of the night:

- 2 hours in the guestlist lineup, 1/2 hour of directly breathing in the exhaust fumes of that ing bus. People in line were pleasant nonetheless.

- only caught 20 mins. of Orkidea (which sucks)

- wish ATB wasn't there. I very much dislike trance.

- VERY impressed with Infected Mushroom. I've seen them before and had become tired of their sound/antics. But last night the crowd was ing insane which made it hard not to get swept away with their set. I was behind the band on the stage, it was amazing to see everything unfolding from there.

- J00F was killer, as I expected. Man, this guy loves what he does (he is always smiling when he spins) and gets me so into his sets whenever I see him. Sucks he didn't come on until 5:00. As noted, ATB should have closed and bumped IF and JOOF. ahead one timeslot.

- The spot where the new DJ booth is excellent (up higher, yet very visible).

- the heat was absurd for a night that wasn't hot outside at all.

- like the renovations, really freshened up the club.

- Music overall 8.5, event experience 6.

......next up in the insane summer of 2007; Halliwell.
======================
Good talking to Spaniard and Hardcore Trancer (upload those sets!!).

After a few years of never really running into any of you other TA's at clubs, I'm starting to realize we do make up a vital part of the EDM scene here and really all over the world.

What a crazy night.

I have never seen a lineup that big or that slow for Guv. The place was waaay to packed, but what do you expect from Guv. I didn't mind the crowdedness mainly cuz I'm used to it by now. The place cleared out quickly after ATB and then some more after Infected.

I was a little disappointed by ATB. They played some good tracks but their set was all over the place, didn't flow at all.

Infected Mushroom was fairly good, though near the end I kinda got tired of their set. Major improvement though from US11.

J00F... wow. First time hearing him and it definately won't be my last. He kept me on my feet for the entire rest of the night. Wikkid hard basslines and track selection. He was definately the highlight of the night.

One of the things that disappointed me was the location of the DJ Booth. I was hoping that Guv would've relocated/brought it down during renovations, but eh... guess not. The room itself is fairly nice, especially the lightwall above the bar/patio entrance. Although I have to say that I liked the old guv better.

Overall awesome night that will definately be remembered.
