It's all pop in Europe and Japan. Whatever you call it. Trance. Pop. Hi-NRG. Eurotrash. Same diff...

Ehm, no? How is 'progressive trance' pop?

You can program an arpeggiator to play an arpeggio. Or least my arpeggiator can do that.

Yes of course, that's the original purpose of the thing. But you can also just have it playing one note repeatedly, like c-c-c-c-c-c when you hit c or d-d-d-d-d-d-d when you hit d (what you meant), instead of playing the notes that make up a chord of your choosing in a sequence (an arpeggio).

But sorry for the miscommunication. I'll stroke Ish's and say "multi-tap delay" from now on. ;)

I don't know about that either, that's not really the function i associate with multitap delay. Chopping up notes, some call it "trance gate", can be done in a few ways, there are a lot of different tools depending on studio environment and what software you're using. I usually just link the volume or a filter cutoff to an automation with a pattern of my choosing.

Oh my effin god please tell me you are joking. Are you telling me that prog trance is not pop in Europe? Maybe you call it something else, but a lot of "pop dance" I hear from Europe sure sounds like a bastardized washed down hi I'm a drunkin popular 16 yr skinny white chick w/bad breath spending my summer vaca with all my hip friends in Ibiza trance track.

Yeah...agreed. Again my bad for miscommunication.

You can also have the same effect with a tremolo plug-in. There's different venues to add the same effect nowadays. I guess that's good in case you can't figure one plug-in out, try the same effect with a different plug-in.

Hmm, we're refering to two completely different things using the same words. Progressive, however heterogeneous, is the branch of trance (and other styles aswell) characterized by deeper, non-commercial music with high artistic integrity, steering away from conventions and pop-formulas.

You've gotten it all wrong. Ask anyone here. There was even a thread about it here the other day, "proper progressive trance" it was called i think.

Definitely agree! But, to be fair, you don't have to listen to any of the fluffy Armin "trance" or music with big breakdowns that you love to complain about.

I don't, but I'd love to go to a trance party and not hear any.

That's the dilemma.

You're not doing a very good job of it, then. You have told no jokes. Thus far, you have only succeeded in coming off as a whiny trancecracker defending his lilly whitebread cracker culture against what you perceive is an invasion from black people music.

Those who oppose you in this thread (including myself) are simply more tolerant of musical variety than you.

It's not a trance track at all, much less a really terrible one.

*shrug* Criticize them better then. Like maybe have some actual concrete proof or evidence to back up your claims.

I didn't specify a certain trance track, just the generic supersaw synth on that specific arpeggio.

This song has NO arpeggiation, NO supersaws, and NO hoovers. You are throwing these terms around like you know what you're talking about. Please. Reset your premises. Try again.

i think i'd rather listen to asot or tiestocle than this garbage

Timbaland produced JT's "My Love" right? I really like the synth on that track. IMO it's a positive example of hip hop and trance crossing paths. I'd like to hear more tracks like that.

Keep something in mind. Alot of Hip-Hop tracks are made electronically. Which makes them EDM. Maybe an unwanted child for most EDM fans but it is still considered DANCE music. Just a different type.
