Btw, it's funny to google applicants before the interview and read up on their most recent drug exploits in myspace. Take that out people. |
my g/f works in HR, people get fired and not hired all the time cause of myspace. I lol at it.

and this is the reason why i never put my full name on any website, and i have alternate email accounts. i have one company, one main for personal stuff i usually don't send spam to, and 2 or 3 spam emails i use to apply to forums, post on the internet, myspace, facebook, xanga, any other blog site, etc... with my spam emails, i do anything i want, and no one knows who i really am, because i don't put my full name on any of my spam emails. in the internet world, i am "Leopold stotch", but in the real world i am ............................ |

Unless it's the type of job where they just interview you to make sure you're not retarded. |
he'd still fail that simple test imo.

Buy a book on how to interview. |
this is the best advice in this here thread. honestly, its amazing how many people dont have the basic skills for interviewing. i sat on an interview panel recently and i had to control myself from laughing at some responses.
at the end of the day, its all about anticipating the questions and providing a confident manner. dont worry if you fail in your first several interviews, follow up on your applications for helpful advice, and treat it as a learning experience. the best way to improve your skills is just get more interviews and practice!!
i'd hate to be interviewed by you occ. i can sense you'd see right through the bull! ;) |

the first interview i had was at northeastern university in 2002 or 2003 i think it was. i was nervous as hell and the interviewer was a complete bitch.
there were about 5 other people in the interview asking me questions and they were nicer but DAMN...my first interview was with more than 4 people grilling me, lol. |

go to the career center in your school and they should have some "how to interview" reading material.. they also do a mock interview, record it and go over it with you. it helps...... i guess |

I'm always amazed that people put the same email that they use to log into myspace with as their primary email on their resume. :wtf:
At my group interview for my current job the recruiter was like "who here has a myspace?" no one raised their hands. He's like "that's ok, I already looked up all of your myspaces."
That's why I'm not registered under my name, have a separate email addy for it, I don't list where I live, work, or where I went to school. |

good to see i'm not alone.
i got an English degree, creative writing; couldn't find a job in my field for around 2 months. i was kind of cool with it because the world cup was on at the time, but after it finished, FECK, i was bored. ended up teaching for year, last day was today.
now what....
i'm a writer, that's the thing that i do. it's who i am.
i will continue to write (in Spanish mostly) until i get a major deal.
i sent a few things recently to get published, just waiting to hear from the publisher. Dios quiera, no.
good luck to everyone.
the way i see it, nothing beats being your own boss. having your own business is the way to go. i know some people whom i consider to be rather slow, but they have their own business and they are making way more then me, WAY MORE!!!
:stongue:
then again, i don't really much care about money.
i like to play the part of the starving artiste. |

A friend of my girlfriend believes she wasn't hired as a middle school teacher because her orkut page was full of communities such as "I smoke pot at work" :p |
