This is generally true except for BA's or BS's in Accounting Engineering, and Nursing. These jobs require a very technical training, and nobody can really do them unless you study them. If you graduate with an undergraduate degree in these fields, you are pretty much set up for a job right away. Plus the demand for these fields is much higher than most others. With most all other degrees, how you get a job depends on who you know, really. I'm glad I chose Accounting as my major.... |

I'm in my 3rd year of Pharmacy and all i can say is it's hard as hell and anyone can't do it obviously.
Pharmacy used to be 4 yrs only and you received a B.S. Now they increased it to 6 years for a PharmD. |

I somehow got lucky. All I have is a high school diploma, and I am a Computer/Network Administrator for a multi-billion dollar company making an appropriate salary for that job. I'm 23 years old and I've been here for over 5 years.
I recognize that I'm definitely the exception, though, and I probably should focus more on my education since I'd likely be screwed if I ever lost this job... but damn, do I hate school. It's hard for me to motivate myself to attend class. |
I think it totally depends on the field you want to get into. I'm in a similar situation as david.michael, the only difference is I did get my B.S. and I can tell you, at least in the IT industry, degrees mean nothing as you've found out yourself. In every organization I've worked for in the 10 years since I graduated with my BS in Computer Information Systems, I've been surrounded by people making 6 figures with no degree. I was the minority. In the IT industry anyways, its all about experience. I do however never regret getting my degree because those 4 years were some of the best in my life. I often see my degree hanging on the wall and remember all I went through to get it and that alone is enough for me. |

Ummm yea generally a resume with something/anything on it is better than a resume that's double spaced with type 14 font. And how would I ever find out that your parents never paid you a salary commensurate with a part-time property manager?
Btw, it's funny to google applicants before the interview and read up on their most recent drug exploits in myspace. Take that out people. | If they did than why would I be financially broke? |

If an interviewer asks you why you want the job and you respond with, "because I'm broke" you're not going to get the job. Unless it's the type of job where they just interview you to make sure you're not retarded. |

Just be like Will Smith in Pursuit of Happiness -- act like you're rich, even when you're sleeping in the Subway! :) |

What I would say depends upon the job and the company. Buy a book on how to interview. |
