That's a piss-poor analogy. If someone is into the ASOT-brand of trance, then encouraging them to explore a bit deeper isn't asking them to change their way of thinking is it? They are already in the right ballpark, but are at surface level and should be encouraged to dive a bit deeper. If you were trying to convert an Armin fan to Ricardo Villalobos, then maybe your point would be valid.
ASOT was/is/will always be...entry-level music. And the comment about 'if you don't like any of the tracks in that list you don't like trance' is utter dog. Trance is a lot bigger than a few big labels pushing their wares.
And if you think the likes of Armin don't get thrown a few quid for playing material from certain labels/artists, then you are ever so slightly naive to ways of the music world... :stongue: |

You are off your rocker man, surface level WTF, people listen to what they LIKE, I don't care about your deep music explorations, keep them for yourself! But if you must know, I have listened to more than a few artists and songs of the stuff you refer to and I am happy to be 'back' where I am listening to what I like, not what you think I should or could like, thanks for the suggestion anyway; as if it's impossible to like ASOT-style 'trance'
Just how many songs do you think Armin/Armada get weekly or even daily with request to be played on ASOT ? Tons! It's become a 2 man job for the whole week, it's not based on pay to play but nowadays when anyone can make music, it takes a lot more effort to weed out the crap from the good stuff, the truth is not every week can we expect 20 good/great tunes, so obviously some episodes tend to sound similar or ASOT-style if you wish, but no one is paying Armada to be played, they don't need it, they got all the spotlight already man.
They might be bias towards their own interests I will agree, but no one pays to be on ASOT, maybe there's some other kinds of deals or whatever, but obviously that'd be secret which only you seem to know. |

| I don't understand you Armin bashers in this thread. Why you care so much that someone likes the music he plays. I also think its utter but thats only my opinion. If someone likes it, leave them alone, its not a crime. |

Ah yes, the usual TA trance thread where everyone has to give their input on how amazing their music is and how trance is and argue for no real ing reason but to piss others off and clutter threads. You'd think the mods would actually have an ability to keep threads on topic and clear of this but then again, this is TA
Anyway:

I don't think it's been the best year for ASOT either but there have definitely been some amazing tracks. There were some on that list I had trouble cutting out of the top 5, but there were also plenty of tracks that I loved that never even got played on ASOT. Not really surprising though, everyone has different tastes. This is just based on ASOT.

Entry level? Entry level to what? I agree that the comments about not liking trance if you don't listen to ASOT is inaccurate, but it's no worse than "ASOT was/is/will always be...entry-level music" :haha:
What a crock of . Let me guess, digging deeper and getting to your music would be upgrading? No mate, it wouldn't. It would just be diversifying your tatses, NOT improving them. If I love one genre, and then find out I love another one it doesn't mean that I've upgraded. It means I have expanded my tastes to encompass more great music.
Once again, entry level? Justify that comment. |

He meant the Tranny Nobel's prize, unlike Alfred, Tranny was a pisspoor native of Canada, he couldn't utter 2 words that make sense, hence they give out an award in his memory, most TA greats have already picked theirs in the long years they've been running in the trance circles. We are too young and don't know our music well enough to be considered for such an esteemed prize. |
