We are just looking out for the others who may want to have this discussion. Sure it may be entertaining, but it also gets old...people have the right to discuss ASOT if they want to (well they should) on a trance forum. There's no law saying that the only discussion on here should be either non-trance related, or only a specific type of trance (say psy, prog psy, old school). Neither I nor Petran really like ASOT or Armin (well not anymore at least) but we still think that those who still do...have that right to talk. This comes with thinking outside of yourself and not just looking out for your own amusement or self-interest.

There are younger people on here who may not be cultured like you or others on here when it comes to the history of trance or the different types of trance out there....some people may like ASOT and Armin and there shouldn't be a problem with that (no different than a child liking Seasame Street....would having them watch the History channel make them more knowledgeable..and improved taste? They might just like Seasame Street because they can relate to it...others may be able to relate more to ASOT or Armin..because that's what they are accustomed to and like. People will grow out of it or onto different types of music on their own times.

It's self-discovery really...sometimes that is better than someone saying "this is better! listen to this!" it might not mean as much. I largely found trance on accident..by listening to net-radio, but I was already starting to become familiar with the likes of BT and Moby (I know he's not trance, nor is BT totally trance either, but they were steps towards it). No one forced me to like trance, and I've discovered other genres on my own as well over the years..and even liked prog house/prog trance before the time I was getting into the more melodic, epic stuff. Maybe other people will do this as well.

but then again I've never heard from anyone else but that freak (and actually other ASOT fans here in the past) that have said "if you don't like ASOT you are a trance hater". Such stuff and "Why do you post on TA if you don't like ASOT?".
I doubt you agree with that kind of idiotic statement.

Your right, I do not agree with this statement either but I still hold my case that those who want to discuss ASOT should have the right to discuss it...whether you like the music or not. Petran and I have both said over and over...this was not a debate thread (only possibly debate about what is the Top 5) but not one where opinions about Armin and ASOT sucking balls is being asked.

valid question: are ASOT-freaks more sensetive than others?
I mean i've seen techno and house people take a good bashing without them going as nuts as the ASOT people. Seriously.
Talk about being paranoid.

well generally they are still in that stage of self discovery and coming of age, where they are just starting to feel like the interesting and different trance-lover they always knew they were, so I can understand a little emotion here.

Ummm....what? You've got to be kidding me

So basically, just because I listen to ASOT and like it means I'm in that stage of self discovery? After almost 8 years of being into EDM be it melodic, uplifting, progressive, house, tech, chillout, ambient, whatever, I'm still a n00b because of preferring ASOT. That's an awfully ignorant statement mate.

PS. Monkey Island is a definite classic. Loved those games :D

PPS. Yes, some of you guys are trolling. Fair enough that statement that you took offence to was debatable (I absolutely agree) but had you not trolled this thread in the first place then we wouldn't be having this problem. This is why we need mods who can actually either keep posts like that out of here and split them into a separate thread where you can discuss ASOT to your hearts content or keep the trolls out of certain threads.

Thank you! Same boat as myself. Didn't even discover ASOT until like 2002. Started off with hardcore/happy hardcore in the mid-late 90 and have explored every EDM style I could get my ears around ever since. Still love trance... sorry.

Also sorry to aid in the hijacking of this thread, but I've always been annoyed by the notion that music is a linear journey. First trance, to house, to prog house, to techno, to ...(repeat with current flavor of the month)... And then it's like "Oh, don't worry, they'll learn..." or in other words... learn to like what "they" think is good music at the time... It's as rediculous as me saying "all these techno/minimal fans are n00bs... soon they'll discover industrial thrashcore and then they'll know what REAL music is..." Lame...

Listen to what you enjoy people; music is not a path to an end, it's an open field of infinite experiences. Hang out wherever ya likes, and don't be ashamed of where you choose to kick it!

People will hate it because it's Armada....doesn't matter what they release, even if the track doesn't have a "3 minute breakdown" and sounds like something they might like..it's "bad, poor quality, crappy" etc. Sometimes labels mean everything and Armada is labeled by some people on here as a pop trance, poor quality, crappy label (even though it's established as one of the biggest labels in trance music). That doesn't matter..it's BAD BAD BAD!
