You are aware that Armin himself has admitted in the past to playing songs that labels push on him and not what he actually wants to play, right?
There may be something to be said about that.

one thing that baffles me, apart from why you write overloaded text blocks, is that you constantly believe that those who criticize ASOT in any way are people that are psy freaks. I myself enjoy good melodic trance alot. Sure there aren't as many good melodic trance producer nowadays as it used to be but there are some and they are damn nice. |
I criticize ASOT, I don't even listen to ASOT or Armin (haven't since 2004) so don't assume i'm defending ASOT/Armin..I can't recall the Top5 from ASOT of 2007 because I haven't listened to it. I'm just defending other's rights to talk about it without having it turn into arguments over "my trance being better than your trance, and your music SUCKS!" kind of attitude that some of you guys have. Surely I prefer the older stuff too, but you know what? I've found plenty of new trance on Beatport that is quite good and reminds me somewhat of the stuff I used to like back in the later 90s and early 00s when I got into trance (no I didn't get into like you did in 1994, I was 9 years old). People should have the right to go on the forum to talk with other like minded people about stuff they like without having to be subjected to trolling or mockery or arguments or whatever it is. You should be able to talk about trance on "tranceaddict" (no i'm not saying ASOT is all trance or that it's the only type of trance, but threads that actually discuss epic/melodic trance..even if it's not directly related to ASOT...turn into these kinds of threads as well. |

As I've written in several other Armin threads I'm not an Armin hater at all. I'm just sceptical at the form ASOT have taken during the last couple of years. It's obvious that there are a handful labels dominating the show, where in the past it was more mixed.
Oh you mentioned psy in the other thread. There isn't much good psy released either nowadays for your information. |

Ok then and I am just as skeptical and uninterested as you are of it and the whole Armin fan worshiping bit, but I don't go into threads just to start up (or know that will be started from it). It's just stupid and you and some others on here have been known to do it, so just cut it out and let those who do like ASOT talk about it...who cares if you like it or dislike it..it's NOT an opinion thread, it's just "top 5 ASOT tracks of 2007" thread...sure probably difference of opinions on what is the top 5..but not "what do you think about so and so?" type of thread. |

| It's like going into a forum about a band you hate and going into random threads stating you don't like the band....that's trolling and it's an annoyance..just like telemarketers, pop-up ads, spyware etc. Why would you waste your time like that? Surely there's better things to do than start for the sake of starting because it's FUN! |

I see that, but your not really contributing to the thread, your just trying to state your opinion in a slightly inadvertent way. Like I said, I can't contribute because I haven't listened to ASOT in three (almost four) years....but I didn't get on here to start an argument about it. I am just trying to defend those who want the peace of mind that they can have a discussion about what they love..without the thread being ruined..as many of them are (and many of my older ones used to be, but I don't make threads anymore). |

Well differences [...] . |
Thing is; people see it as disrespectful to the trance-genre, and their own taste, that some only listens to the ASOT-kind of trance. Diversity being the key word here. The TA's in question here may not be conveying the point in the most diplomatic matter, but still trying to get people to broaden their horizon just a little. When people I talk to say they like trance and I realize they have an extremely narrow understanding of what trance is, I can't help but feel just a tiny little aggravated. It's like ", they think they like the same music as I do, but no they don't. They don't know the first thing about this music". |

| See I think ASOT and Armin are trite..mainstream pop garbage pre-packaged as "trance" and set up as an almost "Top 40" style of trance..rather than what I feel trance used to be and his own sets...truly trance-like..taking the listerner and dancers on a journey of sorts through progressive, melodic and epic trance.....but today? it's anthem..pop sing-along and the like. But that's not an opinion I'm going to convince someone else to have....it's like N'sync..back in the day I wouldn't try to convince a girl that N'sync sucks and they should listen to say...Slayer or Metallica or something. |

When has he said that? I'm sure there is some truth to that though. He's not exactly spinning sweet 16 parties anymore. He's involved in a big business with big money and I'm sure he has to do a lot of things he doesn't want to do or wouldnt do. |
