it was a cinematic symbolism for Rob's immense anger at "the female" in his life.
Rob was drunk as , and he probably took a line of coke to commit suicide after Beth left the party. The movie is just a camera into the mind of Rob as he undergoes a mass hallucination where he finds his true self.
The monster is the anger that Rob has against the world because of his failed relationship. First he kills his brother, the guy who has forever lost the catalogued memories of beth who enabled Hud to tape over That Day in Coney Island. He then kills off Marlena, who he is now jealous of because it seems she and Hud are getting into a relationship. Then, once he finds Beth, he kills Hud because now he and Beth can be together, happy forever.
But in a psychotic twist, Rob kills himself and Beth in a murder-suicide.
The sequel would just be Rob in a mental institution as continues another hallucination, perhaps himself versus Superman.

I absolutely LOVED this movie and defo need to go watch it again to catch things I missed the first time around. I was one of the ppl that got very hyped up after the very first trailer and the hype just kept building for me and it exceeded my expectations.
***spoiler alert***
Wasn't Beth just impaled thru the shoulder and not thru the lungs or any organs? Wouldn't that explain her being alive still (and wasn't the time passed only about an hour?) Also, I loved how when they first bombed the monster, he just used his right arm to rip a building to shreds right in front of him because his arm/hand was so huge. I think the monster that kills Hud had to be a mutated version of the smaller monster as it was totally a different size than the first monster. And I like how Hud didn't see the monster coming when he ran back for the camera because it would have been right in front of him.
***end spoiler***
All in all I enjoyed it a lot and loved the unanswered questions :D |

Yes!! I read that J.J. Abrams was extremely disapointed when he went to see 'Escape From New York' and found that the decpitation of the Statue Of Liberty was only on the movie poster and not in the movie itself. He said that's why the monster decapitates her and doesn't damage anything else on her; it was to quell his boyhood disappointment of not actually seeing the decapitated head! Pretty cool imo. |

Actually they reminded me more of 'Sin Spawn' from Final Fantasy X. |
