Denys' Cloverfield review (Some spoilers!) (pg. 6)
View this Thread in Original format
Burn Notice
Just got back from watching it. Was a sucker for the hype months ago and I must say, it blew my expectations out of the water! Such a killer flick. I loved how you kind of knew this wasn't gonna end well.

******SPOILERS***********

Poor Rob. Losing his brother, then his best friend. I loved it alot more because it wasn't no happy ending. There was no escaping this thing. No War of the Worlds, Tom Cruise saves everyone bull. Just pure destruction. Those action scenes were damn well done too. When they are in the electronics store and the camera guy is checking out the Tv and watching the little creatures attacking and the first attack against the monster were great. The CGI was top notch and made the movie alot more realistic.

**************************

All in all, fantastic movie and definitely gonna catch later on today with some other friends or maybe tomorrow. Way deserving of the hype.

????

but it was. People caught in a catastrophe that they have no control over. The film simply depicts their journey, they are the same.

there's also a strong possibility that there's more than one of these things, and even two different monsters. I had no time to pay attention to details, I'm definitely going to see it a second time to look for this.

I saw the midnight screening last night and I thought it was great. I'md definitely going to go see it again as well. There are certain parts that I want to catch again because I was looking all over the screen (the reviews are right, it IS a pretty busy film)

(SPOILER ALERT!)

At the very end (and I'm not sure if I saw it or not) but when the footage goes back to Rob and Beth at Coney Island I thought I saw something (UFO?) land in the water behind them. Did you or anyone else who saw this film see this?

If I am correct, doesn't Tom Cruise defeat the monster they are captured in by throwing a gernade?? I thought that was pretty lame. But that's just me.

i didn't see it, but apparently, that's true.

The online wizards say it was a Japanese satellite, but I don't know how that ties into the story

Well if anything fell in the water, that would give some sort of plausible explanation for how the monster appeared.

In one of the viral marketing webpages for Cloverfield, I believe I ran into a news article for that Japanese company saying that one of their satellites fell into the ocean.

God damnit now I feel like I have to go and see it again.

just saw this today. i advise people going to see this in the future bring the following items ....

*for the motion sickness people

*just cause of the sappy love story

*just cause i've heard mixed reviews(50/50). if you feel like throwing this, feel free.

all in all, an enjoyable movie, but imo, a couple of things could have been taken out of the movie, and the movie would still be enjoyable.
