oh no ! 2 more months til the 4870 ! well thena agian, that may be outside your budget.

im not going crossfire with my 3870 because im waiting for that.

also, if you want to keep your GPU cool, go with an "Arctic Cooling Accelero V2" 25 bucks and dropped my temps by 40 degrees, passively cooled.

I love doing computer builds, especially my own cause its tailored to exactly what i want. I built a dead silent system in an Antec P182. inaudible from under a meter when the door is closed. its loudest part is the 150GB Raptor.

oh and as for my build:

Modded Antec P182 (sse below)
ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe Motherboard
AMD 6400+ BE Processor (going to 9850 and oc'ing to 3.2 soon
4 GB Corsair Ram (i forget what frequency) but the timings are 5-5-5-18, not the best but i didnt want to spend too much here
CPU cooler is a Zalman 9500 (to be changed to a scythe ninja)
corsair 650W power supply
WD raptor 150
WD 5000ABYS RE2 500GB enterprise drive
Pioneer DVD burner
Zalman fan controller
Ati 3870 with the above mentioned cooler
some old creative sound blaster audio card that i salvaged from my old system
not much elese i can think of.
4 1200 RPM Noctua 120mm fans.

Mods to my case:

cut all the fan grills away with tin snips (better airflow, less turbulence, less noise)
modded the horizontal slats on the front fan doors
nicked these 5.25" mesh bay covers from a friend's Antec 900 and installed an 80mm nexus fan behind to blow directly on the processor
cut away the top blowhole grill, but i think im gonna seal that since it appears to be detrimental to airflow.

And i did a sweet ing cabling job, prob about 70+ zipties in my system. :D

My computer I bought in October:

c2d 2,677GHz
gigabyte p35 ds3
4GB pc6400 corsair
gforce 8800 gts
300+500 GB hdd

Getting new hardware is naice!

i think the big question here is, how many megaflops does it have?
noikeee
That looks like something coming out of the Alien movies.

And I'm talking about that "something" that pops out from human hearts.

i've been pretty happy with my laptop so i don't think i'll be doing another build in the near future.

I used to be into all that . But these days just buy nothing over £50 unless it's a monitor.

ing boring keeping up with all that stuff.

im not knocking it, ive been using it since 03 no problem. the fact my computer is from summer 00 and still running reasonably well is pretty amazing imo, its just getting somewhat obnoxious at this point, and i cant even load my mp3 player because i dont have xp!

but win 2k is sweet i would keep using it for awhile if it were at all possible|
