I know Gerrard supplied him majorly, but the other attacking threat(s) deflected some of the attention to create the space he needed to score. A quick look at the formations Rafa played last season showed that he preferred either 4-4-2 (alongside Kuyt, Crouch, or Voronin) or 4-3-3 (flanked by Kuyt and Babel), barring one game against Newcastle in which Torres started up front by himself. And a quick look at his history all the way back to Valencia in 03/04 shows that he rarely uses one striker up front alone.

yeah. i meant more so, that the 4-2-3-1 would include steve in the middle & then the 2 wide men to support, babel on the left and someone like bentley imo on the right, or even kuyt

Superdepor has 38 players now :D

Onda Cero FM (Spain) says Cristiano Ronaldo is signed with Real Madrid. RM will pay 90-95m of Euros. He will presented next week after Laporta's vote no confidence in FC Barcelona because Calderón and Laporta are very close friends and Calderón doesn't want to damage Laporta.

Rumore rumore... Real Madrid wants Huntelaar.

Most laughable rumor I've heard. Just go on manchesterunited.com and you'll see the big headline is that Ronaldo is still deciding upon surgery for his ankle. That's it. Man U isn't willing to sell him. Unless Ronaldo forces the issue vehemently, then nothing will change. The "rumor" was that he was gonna announce his decision in a few days. That was two weeks ago. I actually read that tabloid trash on the Man U message boards. It's just not true or believable knowing the facts.

By the way, I'm not disputing he could possibly leave. I'm disputing that anything is decided yet...because it's not. I actually don't foresee him leaving but that's just my two cents.

Do I think Madrid is a step down from Man U? I do but again, I'm a supporter of Man U and they did win the Champions league and Premier League last year. Madrid hasn't done well in the Champions league the last few years. It's facts.

Real Madrid and Manchester United are two "equal" clubs, as in, they're both absolutely top class. It's neither a step down nor a step up.

Funnily enough, I hate both clubs equally.

What relevance is there that there is nothing announced on the manchester united web site.

That would be the last place the news would break if the player did want leave. For all we know talks could be well under way between the 3 parties, Manchester united would hardly be wanting to announce this to the world without first of all having 3 maybe 4 replacements names ready to sign.

message boards on their website. don't you think the millions of fans across the world that post on there, would know first? reading through all the countless articles, hearing all the TV broadcasts, etc etc. As I mentioned, this report was already mentioned there a week ago. It isn't new news to me. It's already been refuted. That's what I'm saying.

About the clubs, my perception is that Manchester United is more prepared for the next 5 years to win more trophy's than Real Madrid. Not analyzing money, history, etc. Those are both gigantic. I'm talking about the now. That's all I mean.

Really? What about a Man Utd without Ronaldo?

Are you talking about all the young stars Man Utd has, like Nani and Anderson? What about Gago, Higuain, Drenthe?

What would United do if they sold Ronaldo and got 90 million? Pocket the money and live happily ever after? Think they might be able to buy some good players with that money? To be honest, I don't think any one player is worth that much. Not certain United would be worse if they spent that money wisely. Plus, the talk is they'd get a player or two from Madrid.
