awfully high % of divorces, you sure about that? even some of the faithful married ones consent to extramarital relations too so really is a marriage a factor at all? |
You mean they consent to their own extramarital affairs or to the other person's?
If it's the former then I don't see the relevance. If it's the latter then they should never have been married. |

Cheating has occurred if and when any activities have been performed between one partner and a third party, when the first party knowingly and willfully chooses to participate in the said activity, knowing the second partner would disapprove.
Corollaries :
Not knowing if your partner would be upset doesn't count as cheating either, as it simply means you have not defined boundaries as-yet provided it is something you would not consider cheating if done to you. |
i would amend as above or simplify to:
cheating has occurred if you are involved in a relationship and do anything that you know your partner would disapprove of to contradict that relationship with a third party. in the event of any undefined boundaries it becomes whatever you feel would be acceptable to be done by your partner in an equivalent situation. |

in sense of mutually consenting to each other's actions - swingers or sexually adventurous married couples. they may be happily married, mortgage, 2.4 kids but at nighttime they have arrangements with each other that extend beyond 'normal' married sexual practices |

| I think cheating involves anything that is dishonest towards your partner, in terms of the boundaries agreed upon in the relationship. |
