Some guy did that in the... disco days? If I recall correctly, he was like the only white & straight person in the club and people refused to dance and threw at him. After a couple nights of this, he put up a curtain, played a wicked set, and then took down the curtain close to the end of the set... people went nuts and loved him ever since. Too fairy tale? I've had lots of fun hearing both of them play, and if I got a chance I'd certainly thank them for a great night, but I'm not going to go out and mob them fanboy style or expect them to answer my questions. That's silly. |
Really? You can't stick a curtain around a DJ and tell me its Danny Howells if its not DH. You cant do it for Danny Tenaglia or Carl Cox, and quite a few of other talented DJ's. Especially if I were to follow those DJ's like those who "worship" them do. But surely any artist can be replaced with another artist, you cant really juxtapose as equals but you can enjoy their work equally, subjectively. The difference layer is that Sashweed have built their following overtime, it wasnt by simple twiddling of knobs like some here are describing what they have done to get where they are. Some of you guys need to respect the talent behind their success, they dont have people scavenging the internet for the tracks they've played for nothing, when those same people can be just twiddling knobs and paving their own way? |

Well, I would hope that they're "scavenging the Internet" for those tracks because of the quality of the track itself -- which has precisely nothing to do with Sasha or Digweed unless it's one of their own productions -- not simply because their favorite DJ played it. |

Actually I use Ableton too, and based on the nonsense you've posted so far, I imagine you're still at the "What's a tempo" phase.
So please, spare me the "why doesn't he use it to it's potential" rubbish. It's a ing piece of plastic like all other MIDI controllers, you slut. |

And what about the priceless taste that went into choosing the tracks? Thats half the craft isnt it? Who cares about who made it, thousands of people make music (including myself), and there are hundreds of thousands of tracks to choose from. The worshippers scavenge for the tracks because S&D do well at picking great tracks out of that sky high heap of tracks. Really I dont think you have an idea how hard producer's work to wrestle their way onto a Sasha or Digweed tracklist. Many producers cater their music to their style of the moment. |

I'm not a S&D worshipper by any means, I've been heavily critical of them the past couple years, but nobody was playing what they were playing in the 90s. |

Well, yeah, back then you had the access barrier of vinyl distribution in place, so it was easier for big DJs to get stuff that nobody else could and maintain their exclusive status that way. |
