I'm surprised no one's pointed out the corporate nature of GG as the prime suspect. I mean, the event is sponsored by Myspace ffs!
The advantage to these huge festivals is that you can see 10-15 big name acts and plenty of lesser-known ones in one place; the disadvantage is that you're gonna get a few acts thrown in there to maximize profits. The way I see it, Kanye is just the bait to lure folks who might go clubbing occasionally but also have a taste for more "pop" music. And hey, maybe a few dozen of those kids will go see Stanton Warriors and have their tastes change.
Putting up with this corporate pandering to the masses is just a part of the game. If you want to see a purely EDM event, I'm afraid you need to look to a smaller, less whored out event. |

And in regards to the whole Moby being a DJ thing, does anybody know if he's definately doing a DJ set or could it be a live performance at GG? |

Technically, the other caveat I like to include is that it actually be dance music (not everyone will agree, but if it says "dance music," I assume there's dancing involved). Even then, if I go to Players on a Thursday night, I'm going to hear ing Golddigger, and I will see drunk college kids dancing to it. It's a fact of life. |
