This is a loltastic thread.
Kanye is definately EDM enough to be on that list. Sounds like people are just whining because they don't like him. If you're going to take Kanye off, then you might as well get rid of Moby while you're at it. |

My argument that hip hop is EDM? How the hell is that flawed?
Ask any hip hop artist whether he wants people to dance to his music. Then ask him if he's using electronic means to make it.
Dance music, check. Electronic, check. What's the counterargument supposed to be again?

i could do a summary and quote us going back and forth but that would take too long so ill just sum it up by asking this:
they're both dance music, they're both electronic, so why is kanye west more acceptable at an EDM event than britney spears? |

Regards to Kanye West turning up, its just a clear sign of Global going more commercial. Someone mentioned earlier about 75% of people who attend not even knowing the names of the Djs, I suppose promoting Kanye West as a main act is to cater for the majority of the audience. Similar to what Creamfields are trying to do.

I don't see it as a bad thing including him, if you don't like him, don't go see him.
My experience of Global was pretty average. Sound system was horrific, prompting Armin to look pissed off all the way through his set, many stalls running out of drink, PVD and Eddie Halliwell failing to make an appearance. It was the same with OpenAirBirmingham.. Everyone buying tickets only for management to turn round and say 'we're not having 3 areas anymore because the council wont let us! so instead you've paid 35 pound for a single venue..' The Angel Music group are a bit of a piss take..

Learn about branding and marketing before you open your mouth, you couldnt be further wrong with the two guesses you came up with for the typefaces. There also not strictly fonts.. Sorry about being anal but it fukin amazes me when people talk bull when they haven't got a clue.. |

Seriously, though. You have the guy from The Prodigy up there doing pretty much the same basic thing as Britney Spears or 50 Cent -- performing live with vocals, dancing, and sequences -- but with far better music. Britney is EDM, too, it's just that her music is crap.

See, the problem is that too many people are trying to use "EDM" as a term of praise -- their line of thinking is that music doesn't "deserve" to be called "EDM," so they insist that whatever they don't like (such as hip hop) isn't really EDM -- while I'm just treating "EDM" as a descriptive term. Two different wavelengths. |
