trains are ing awesome. I like the shade the train gives in this picture with lot of dust in the air |
Thats exhaust!
The tunnel actually has a giant door on that side which is closed for most of the duration that the train is in it. About halfway through it is a giant air shaft that goes up hundreds of feet through the mountain and has fans on the top that suck exhaust out, but lots of it still get trapped in the tunnel and is pulled out by the suction of the train leaving the tunnel.
After the train has passed they close the door again and continue to vacate the tunnels air for 20 minutes before another train is allowed through. |

I've had requests here and there about how I do my HDR's and I figured I'd do a few step-by-step type photos showing the progress. At the left are the original images, at the top right is what I get out of Photomatix (this is an older one, I think if I did it today it would look a bit different than that) and then finally at the bottom is the finished product.
Final adjustments: curves, noise reduction, local contrast, white balance, color balance, saturation, distortion correction, straightening, resizing, sharpening.

| How do you go about blending the 4 shots from the auto-exposure-bracketing? Or is that something that Photomatix does for you? |
|

| yeah Photomatix does the merging, after you set the tonemapping sliders to your liking. |

Thanks, I'm going to check it out :) I've never tried any HDR stuff before, since my main interest is with bird photography, but since I have a decent wide angle lens now, I'd like to give it a try. |

Which of those is your original exposure? When shooting for HDR do you shoot at +/-0 stops or do you try to move it around depending on the lighting, so as to get more important data in the raw? |

| the original exposures are on the left. it does depend on lighting and what kind of look you are going for, there is no textbook right-or-wrong method for HDR, imo. |
