| when I do my multiple exposures, I always have the mindset "better to have more exposures than you need" - because you can always pick and choose what you want to use in processing. So I would take about 6-7 exposures, ranging from almost blown out to almost dark, with a regular interval between each one. |

You say you move stops though for a lot of your HDR from the original exposure though. Which one is the original exposure straight off the camera? |

I do that sometimes too, but for this example it's a true multiple exposure HDR - the 4 shots on the left are the four original exposures (4 separate shots) used for the HDR. |

cool, gotcha. :)
sorry to keep asking random questions.... just one more... everywhere I have read about bracketed exposures gives examples of shooting at 0 and then +1/-1 or some exposure inbetween... but thats 4 exposures. Do you shoot auto bracketed or pick and choose based on the situation?
I have found that pick and choosing usually means touching the camera on the tripod and adjusting which takes time and can cause odd artifacts between exposures. |

nothing to be sorry about - I am glad to help.
I had not done it using AEB in the past because my cam only does 3 shots - but it is possible and this would be the 'best' way to do it to minimize movement. I learned later on that you can do 2 sets of AEB at appropriate spaces giving 6 total shots. But I haven't tried it. When I first started doing it I was getting a lot of movement in the shots, it's tricky. Photomatix has an "align images" that helps, though. But ideally you want your shots razor sharp - I have yet to reach that point. Just takes a lot of practice. |

Ah man, The composition of the shot is awesome, but I feel you went a little too far with the HDR. It's a little bit too cartoony now.
But you should defintely get the 5D2. If only for the fact I'll be jealous!

yeah, i pushed it intentionally. btw its not a HDR. just some processing.
another shot from Saturday, you may recanize the person at bottom left. he played at Spybar Fri night and came on a boat party with us.
