as much as most people hate to admit it Hip Hop is another form of Electronic Music.

How often do you see bars bringing in international Rock DJs or Country DJs? You don't see it because the people going to those bars are going there for rock music or country music....they are not going there because some famous DJ will be spinning songs from other people.

Electronic music focuses too much on the DJ compared to other types of music.

are you talking about Hip Hop Artists or Hip Hop DJs....to me there is a huge difference between the two.

Wha? The DJ is the equivalent of the band or of the singer. It's totally reasonable that people go for him/her.

People go to see/hear the person behind the music, whether it's a DJ or a person behind the mike or the drums or whatever.

as I previously said in this thread

Bands and DJs are two very different things....if anything bands are more like producers....you go to see the band and their music. DJs are more like the cover bands out there and I don't know many cover bands that sell out a club like Guv.

If anything....we should be praising the producers more and the DJs less.
Skipper
I disagree that bands and DJs are inherently different when it comes to people's motivations to go hear them. So do the 5000 people who go to guvernment every weekend too, and the 40,000 at each of the many big events across Europe every year.

Clearly people put just as much emphasis on DJs as they do on bands, are you actually arguing that?

no....I'm arguing that we put too much emphasis on DJs.....more emphasis should be put on the people that produce the music and not the ones that spin the music.
