He's quite simply da man.

I'm a Villalobos/Vath man myself, but Hawtin should be numero uno, looking forward to seeing him at Minitek.

PvD - Vandit

Those 2 top just based on the 4 points you mentioned. Not relating music they actually play.

You can find Armin & PvD cds at music shops here in Pakistan where existence of a club is far thought they wont even let a Dj visit.

India also has hosted some major gigs with Armin & PvD but i do not believe Richie has toured yet.

So in short no i do not agree that Richie is on top, but i do agree he is the fawkin man and personally i rather go see him play then PvD and Armin combined :)

He's definately up there.

I agree with this statement.

What's not to love about Hawtin?

He is definitely up there in my top DJ's and I don't think I have seen a bad set by him in all the times I have seen him.

I can't agree with that statement cause I have and to be honest never really "got" him until seeing him at DC10 last year. I have seen him many times and even a couple days before DC10 when he was with Sven, Ricardo and Luciano and he wasn't good at all. DC10 changed all of that and I discovered a happy Richie is a great Richie.

this surprises me coming from you tyler

spastik, minus orange are some pretty 'epic' (shudder, I hate that term) tracks, then for more recent stuff - 24hr crack in your bass, Audion - mouth 2 mouth (even though I rather dislike that one). Although, we could sit around and split hairs over 'are these techno? are these minimal? what is minimal techno' and get into a circular wank-fest.

However, I'd say Richie is pretty ontop of things right now. Not all of his sets knock my socks off, however I do have a great deal of respect for him and he's one of my favorite artists / producers. As a DJ he can be pretty hit and miss - but when he's on, its nothing short of magical at times. Some really mind-bending stuff.

haven't seen him live lately so can't really give any #1 praise.

i doubted techno would become so huge and its masters like hawtin that have paved the way for whats going on today.
