This guy is an innovator, i will give him that. but his music lacks emotion and melody, which is why he will never have the same appeal some other legendary dj's out there.

My favourite set of his has always been (and probably will always be) Live @ L'Enfer (from 2000 or 2001 - pretty sure it's 2001)

It's 3 hours of bangers mixed with some trippy minimal goodness and has been in my rotation for 6 years now.

mass appeal =/= quality

his RA podcast 100 was really the tiest set ever though.

I liked his RA podcast actually. The first 10 mins or so where meh, but when it got going I rather enjoyed it.

I like the cold / clinical / technical approach of Hawtin. Dunno, the 'lacking of emotion' is part of the appeal to me. Then again, I love Sleeparchive and think he's amazing. Seems more logical than emotional, and that's something I can relate to more so than pretty melodies.

Not saying one is better than the other, just a matter of preference.
