I always thought you should try to seem not american, but that's difficult in Europe.

Although this is purely speculation, this is my advice based on going to Berlin, and having read about how to get by these door policies on other message boards:

1. Don't be obnoxious in line
2. Don't come in large groups (3 people max. If you have more, split up your group)
3. Don't be too ed up in line (re: #1)
4. Try to make your outfit/look unique. They don't want striped dress-shirt/dress shoe wearing lager louts in these clubs.
5. If your only spoken language is English, try to minimize talking in line
6. Be confident and polite. When you approach the doorman, don't make it look like you're worried about getting in or that you don't belong there.

Oh, and bringing hot girls won't help you. My guess is if it looks like you brought hot girls just so you can get in, you probably won't get in.

This is probably going to cause a minimum of 20 posts saying, "Why would I have to follow these rules to get into a club? I'll just go somewhere else!" All of that is irrelevant. Although I didn't go to Bar25, Panorama Bar was the most unique party experience I've had, and the best party experience I've had in all of my travels. I've heard Bar25 is like Panorama Bar but crazier (make sure you do some reading on the place before you go. It's not for the faint of heart).

If you want to experience the same, do what is needed to get in. Even if you do what is needed to get in, you still might not get in. If that happens, bring your hot girls to Watergate or Weekend. I'm sure you'll get in there (and I'm sure you'll have a fun time too!)

in short:

If you're going to Berlin to just party, may want to re-think that :) Go to Berlin to go to Berlin, experience the city, and if you're lucky - you'll get into the good clubs, just don't make it the only reason for going.

I spent 10 days in Berlin this summer, went to Watergate, weekEnd, Bar25, Panorama, among others. Got rejected once at Watergate, tried again a couple days later and everything was good.

If you go to Berlin understand that their is a good possibility that you may not get in somewhere, it's ty but not a massive deal. When we didn't get into Watergate that one night, we went to Panorama (which is a very short cab ride away, we could have walked it in 10 mins)and got in no problem.

I agree with all the tips above. Girls will definitely help you get in if your in a small group (2 girls+1guy=gold) and DO NOT get dressed up in a dress shirt and dress shoes, you'll have no chance lol. Obviously don't be a prick in line or act too ed up. I found that personally, when you get to the front, just walk in like the bouncer isn't even their. If he says something to you, keep walking. Worst thing that will happen is he'll tap you on the shoulder and ask you to wait a bit before letting you in, they're s but still respectful. By far the hardest place I found getting into was Bar25 on a Sunday. During the week and on the Friday/Saturday its about as tricky as the other top clubs, but sunday is kinda like a locals only vibe, very difficult. We got rejected three times before getting in. Each time we would leave and grab a coffee, or a wurst, and then head back, finally they felt sorry for us and let us in! :tongue2

Damn, that must have been quite the trip.

Agreed to kaniz said about not going to Berlin just to party. I have a feeling lots of people make this mistake. Berlin is my favourite place I've visited. The city is very unique and has a a lot of character. I spent 10 days there too and didn't want to leave at the end of my trip.

hmm interested comments...

I would agree with most of the pointers. Good suggestions

Even some of the most important industry people in Berlin sometimes dont make it in aswell. Most Berlin Clubs change there doorman 2 or more times a month...for a reason. They are a bussinees and dont
want too many people being hooked up.

Theses are the abosolte important things i can suggest.

1) Act like you deserve to be there without being rude
2) Bring Girls and dont come with more than 4 people.

Hey, why enjoy the party when you can spend the night capturing it on your cellphone and enjoy the video later?

If you removed 99.9% of the cellphone pylons, there might actually be room to dance!

That is exactly right. Berlin is amazing and there is so much to do other than clubbing. The clubs are just the little extra that makes it special. There are other clubs that are cool and you won't have issues getting in.

Act like you've been there. Don't go in large groups is exactly right. The girls thing can make a difference at Weekend and Watergate. Berghain on a Saturday it won't help...in fact I played the gay card to get in after first being turned away.
