As for Deadmau5....

Yes he is Canadian... and if there is any justice to the world he will have a Grammy on the deck.

Not a bad choice. If he gets it he deserves it.

and until one of his detractors here can program and live remix I will maintain that opinion.

The guy is talented and his talented extends to every reach of electronic music and the bitches who claim that all his music sounds the same are just that - Bitches....

Whiny little bitches who are crying because of his remarks about DJ's

The fact is - yeah, he is socially inept... but he live remixes. I have seen him do it and it's ing SICK.

That is ur opinion, others have different opinions, me personally I don't like his sound or style and if there was a voting poll for Bel en Blanc, I would Vote NO!!

I watched him live remix @ Stereo and I was pretty impressed....

And when I say I watched him... It means I watched him.

He is a mashup artist. His Faxing Berlin/Longest Road Mashup was sick indeed.

lol fl666 editing every post.

Anyways, Bal en Blanc could choose from tons of other djs that can move that dancefloor more effectively than him. Then again, this event is about mass apeal, so you will see Guetta again and again and again and again ...

Bring the Mousehead if he stays away from his own productions. Actually, don't bother. Deadhouse, two of the most boring sets I've ever witnessed

*yawns*

Web forums are about opinions, especially from the folks who pay upwards of $100 for these events. Bitch away :p

In the end.. it's a matter of taste.

Personally, I thought his set at Stereo was sweet indeed. Where did you hear the two boring sets?

he was at Guv in Toronto, his edm hometown, so to speak. The other set was here in Afghanistan. :p

Generally, I don't spend a lot of time "watching" djs, it's more in the dancepit where I can truly feel his/her effectiveness as a dj.

As for Deadhouse.. personally, I don't think he's suited for the house room. At BeB the music is traditionally progressive tribal house, lots of diva house with some minimal tech house elements (later in the morning). That's why Guetta was such a bad fit in '06 and '08 [in my opinion].

But to quote the TA philosopher, Fullhouse: "Bal en Blanc are whores." So you may get your Deadhouse after all.

Thanks for the heads up. That'll keep me away ;-)

As for Deadmau5. He was VERY good @ Stereo. Then again, DJ's had a tendency to kick out the jams in that room. He live remixed everything on his monome and the results were pretty impressive.

hehe, I hear u about the diva house. You would normally hear some at BeB but maybe for a few tracks here and there, depending on the dj. Some vocals are okay, but when you start delving into a diva set like Morales :nervous:

Anyways, this deadmau5 @ Stereo review was very very similar to what I experienced from him:

"Went to deadmau5 with low expectations, setting the bar really low just in case he's really as bad as ppl on the thread were saying. And let me tell you what, he beat my expectations, he played worse than i could have possibly imagined. Not to insult anybody's music tastes, this set, for me, was the worst I've ever heard in stereo by miiiiiiles. Same fkn bassline for 2h30. Transitions sucked. Track selection didnt do it for me, plays minimal and out of NOWHERE pops tiesto- clockwork orange, euhhh WTF?! Disapointed BIG time. Half of my friends left at like 6 because they couldnt handle it anymore, and the rest was sitting down talking waiting for Jeff Fontaine. Didnt feel the music AT all. Just the same freakin bassline+ some occasional noise. He's a cool guy and all, good producer, but for gods sake, keep him away from turn tables!!!
The place was jammed, so many ppl, very young crowd, not the usual stereo crowd at all. Overall, horrible night for me.
So ya thats my opinion on that night, dont mean to offend anybody. SHould have saved up for danny howells instead, he's gonna kill it tommorow im sure, too tired to go to both though.
Anyhow, is it only me, or somebody else thinks the same??"

classic thread too :p seemed like many of the positive reviews came from ppl who like trance too, yes it's a generalisation but...

Anyways, we should stick to thread topic. :p

He didn't touch a turntable - so there goes THAT review ;-)

As far as the thread goes. Considering that:

A) He is a local and
B) He really made a big splash this year - whether you like him or not

and

C) got a Grammy nomination and deserves the award for that track if he gets it because "The Longest Road" a great track.

I don't think he would be a bad choice...

(Then again... I like "Tiny Dancer" and a lot of people f'cking hate it so ymmv.)
