I've written entire essays on this damn issue in multiple threads. I really can't be bothered writing another one right now. |

either way, i'm a proponent that people should at least know how to use a gun. it teaches them to respect the weapon, just like whenever you learn to use a chainsaw or whatever potentially dangerous tool
it's like having a knife in your kitchen. you teach your kids not to play stabby stab with a knife.
education is the key

But chainsaws and knives have a specific, non-violent purposes.
Guns by definition are to shoot/kill living things. |

The last part though, I think is a little general for how big America really is. The simple fact is that the police are, minimum, 2 minutes away. It took 2 minutes for the police to arrive at Northern Illinois from the first shots. 4 people had already been killed and numerous more injured. Banning guns just allows criminals to use guns and the law abiding populace without the ability to defend themselves. That is the simple truth. |
This is patently false in the long term. This will be increasingly proven as guns are seized and destroyed. I said previously, and I will say it again. When a gun becomes COST PROHIBITIVE aka too expensive for 99% of criminals, use of guns in crimes will disappear in general crime. Plain and simple.
As I said, I used to have the same exact views as you, but I still have realized the err in my ways. Guns are quite unnecessary. |

| Even if they seize every gun in the world and they cost millions of dollars to make, people will make guns on their own. Give me a pipe, some household cleaning liquids, a rock and a lighter Ill make you a "gun" |

Because these will become highly refined, accurate, and mass produced. |

not necessarily. you gotta use something to kill animals for meat.
if that's acceptable, why not guns as well?
problem is how you use the gun... |

Just like those inuit tribes that can hunt narwhales, areas that need a gun access will have very specific exclusions with insane controls. |

| i'm not for everyone having a gun, but if you think government controls and regulations will stop people that want guns from getting them, then you are delusional. |

Police believe that after Pardo stopped shooting he unwrapped his gift -- a home-made device used to spread fire -- and used it to set the house ablaze. Watch firefighters on the scene of the inferno »
Buchanan said the device was "something we have never seen before." Covina Police Chief Kim Raney described it as a pressurized tank attached to another tank filled with accelerant. |
