We don't have guns in the UK, and we also don't have incidents like this.
Coincidence? |
we do, just not as frequently.. |

i dont understand. you don't believe in self defense? what would you have done had this happened? |
Excuse me for my rude language,... but are you a ing retard?
The speed of you running upstairs to get your gun is: 7 m/s
The speed of the bullet catching up on you is: 896 m/s
The million dollar question is: who will win the race? :o |

I think every American should be given four guns when they are born.
We should also have a gun-aid system to help low income families afford cheap guns.
Frag grenades, RPGs and vehicle mounted machine guns should also be made legal, you know, for self defense.
I know I'd sleep better at night... |

The question is how lucky is the shot.
I've been shot at in close range at my head and it had a very strange projectory, only grazing me and diverting at a 45 degree angle upwards upon the slightest contact with my skin (thankfully not the 45 degrees towards my cranial cavity).

2. Switzerland. Every household owns an automatic weapon, and there is a minimal drug issue in this country. Check out the homocide rate. |
Note also gun control does not simply refer to laws and regulations dealing with the purchase of guns.
| quote: | Instead of a standing, full-time army, the country requires every man to undergo some form of military training for a few days or weeks a year throughout most of their lives.
Between the ages of 21 and 32 men serve as frontline troops. They are given an M-57 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition which they are required to keep at home.
Once discharged, men serve in the Swiss equivalent of the US National Guard, but still have to train occasionally and are given bolt rifles. Women do not have to own firearms, but are encouraged to. |

Coorelation != causation. Come on dude. In the U.S. Military, most people on the front lines of battle have guns. And there is a minimal drug problem, yet there is very little crime (not during actual battles I'm referring to). |

If you live in a country where illegal guns are widespread then you would wanty a gun in case you meet a gun totin crackhead.
Saying that if guns are legalised then legally obtained weapons leak into the hands of gun totin crackheads.
Also its the person holding the gun thats the problem not the country in question. Its not that guns are legal in USA that makes them a problem its the culture of using them.
However some of that USA gang culture is leaking into britain in my city Birmingham there are two gangs of blacks called the burger bar andf the johnsons. a few years back the burger bar drove up on new years ever to a party where a few girls were outside smoking or whatever and ing machine gunned them indescriminatley 5 dead and everyone else ed.
Guns are a real problem in london and manchester where Rees jones the 11 year old was shot in the ing neck by rival gangs
SO its a global problem so everyone get of the my country this ! |

You'll notice two things in your information here:
1. There is obviously a close tie to gun homocide rates and prohibition of drugs. This is basic supply & demand, and illegal entities such as the war on drugs are used to help keep these regions destabilized. Guns can't be banned until the governments of the planet and the societies of the planet mature enough to move beyond these black markets and find other solutions. |
Except for the Netherlands, where aren't drugs prohibited, among the countries cited in that graph?

According to that graph, not even half of the households have firearms in Switzerland (it's between 35% and 40% percent). And, although it cannot be compared to the US, it's got the 2nd highest homicide rate among the countries included in that study. |

seriously. in US, how many crimes are done with guns bought legally and illegally?
if someone wants a gun, he will find a supplier |

I enjoy guns, but I am by no means a "gun lover" in the sense of those crazy nuts. I think they need to at least be restricted, but how exactly to approach this, I don't know.
One thing I do know though, is that criminals are MORE afraid of joe blow in his house with a gun than the cops. This is due to the fact that the general population is unpredictable when they will shoot. Cops they are aware of what the "lines" are that they have to cross before they will shoot.
Also, all those people that say that gun control or the banning of guns should not happen, can you give me a reason why they shouldn't be? Do we really have that serious of a need for them? They could even ban them from police. The less availability of guns, the less problems you have with them. Unavailable, the general criminal may or may not have them as they are exhorbantly expensive and cost prohibitive to ascertain. |

Reason why it's far more important to change the culture, not just the laws. |
