Seriously, I'm not mad or angry. But comeon, I've been doing this crap everyday for like 4 years now.
And my music still sounds NOTHING like professional at all. I think after you start maybe 4 to 500 tracks, finish maybe 100, and look back with humility you really learn some , like you just aint got it and never will.
Like yeh, I LOVE the ideas, and the concepts of my tracks, some of the melodies and beats maybe for 2 seconds have pro potential. But there is this sort of lack of artisitic intuition. Its this weird little idk wtf you would call it, but like transfering an amateur idea into something professional, that translation is impossible. I KNOW what sounds good, I just don't know how to make good sounds.
I look at pro tracks, they sound SOOO fvcking simple, like there was 1000 different beats they could combine, and somehow they can magically pick out the 2 that were meant to mixed. I don't get it. I think at some point in this I'm gonna have to accept the fact that I have this real powerful inspiration to make music that will make people dance their balls off, but I'm gonna have to learn how to be content with the idea that inspiration doesn't guarantee reaching your goals.
I'm not talking about fame or recognition, I'm just talking about taking that feeling you want to produce in your head, and actually doing it through music. But it seems I always miss the target.
This is one of my older tracks that I never posted anywhere, got buried on my hardrive, with loads of others, and I've always had so much confusion about it.
Like some melodies sounded good, but something just doesn't work, something just always doesn't work, its my typical average track (not the seldom decent ones I may actually post)
Listen if you wish, would you even consider this amateur worthy? Why doesn't it "just work"? Its the most confusing thing in the world making a track and being able to know if people will like it.

Ahh, thats the secret, should I make my music when I'm high too?
Haven't dropped E in decades and weed is as easy to get here as plutonium. |

Lol well i'm just in the same boat as you, but maybe instead of dropping a E try Plutonium you never know you might turn into this awesome Trance producer that generates the most superb sounds anyone has every heard. lol |

the question is:
do you like making your tunes, or are you just doing it to get released??
who cares if they're not at 'release' levels if it's a hobby etc :D
plus, you can be way more experimental when you don't have the pressure of conforming to a 'standard' production level!! |

Couldn't you have just bumped your last thread about how rubbish you are? Or even let me make a thread about how rubbish you are? It'd have to be easier;) |

There is actually nothing in this world I really enjoy more than sitting down with my keyboard and FL Studio.
A lot of people don't really get it.
But I still do want release level material because when I got into it all I wanted to do was be able to make tracks that would make people lose their ing minds in the club.
It just sucks that I don't feel like I can do something that I've worked so hard towards practicing.
Sometimes I really don't care, but I wanna be able to make tracks where people hear it and are like "holy , that is pure talent right there". |

I could have, but honestly if you ever want to make a thread about how bad I suck I will give you the last 20 tracks I've made (won't pick out the good ones) and you can take your time ripping my "talent" to pieces.
Like make a point by point list of everything people need to avoid when they make trance using my songs. You can make it like 10 pages too.
But that would require that you actually know something about trance, so its def not happening haha JK! I am serious about the list though. |

Personally, I don't know if I could do that, to be content knowing that my projects will never reach their goal (getting into the venue to make people smile, bang their heads, and dance). Obviously we aint the same people, but I kinda suspect you wont accept that either.
So I took a listen to that song, and it's not to my taste for two primary reasons:
1) I'm not so into straight-up trance anymore, I'm on the prog side, a lot more towards house. So, it's part just a style prejudice.
2) I only know a little bit of theory, so I might be way off, but you're letting the song's chord progression be pretty much strictly ruled by the 1-2-3 that the bass line is doing. It does not vary. That particular chord progression, so far as I've experienced, doesn't have much dramatic potential, and nor are those chords subtle.
Added to that, the bassline's cadence itself is oompah. No syncopation happening. A simple progression made even simpler.
Have you taken piano lessons? If not, TRY IT! It's not necessarily the theory or the keyboarding skills alone that make it good. Maybe it's also the exposure to classical and complex compositions, too. Or getting a rapport with a teacher who is likely a creative musician themselves. I don't really know what it is, but there's a lot going on there, and I think you'd feel creatively bolstered by the process. |

Subtle |
Ive been making music for almost 10 years now, and just recently begin to sound like i want to.
The most important skill a producer can ever have IMO, is the ability to hear when to ditch or keep a sound.
And also often your music isnt any better than the ideas and visions you have for it.
I listened to your track, and i think there are sound in it that could be used in Pro track, but ur track lacks direction for the most part, in the arrangement mostly.
Just continue to make music, learn new production techniques and you will get there in the end.
And some confidence cant hurt either, because if u think to yourself that you suck at making Trance, you will suck at it for sure. |
