I just sold some on ebay + plus the pennies i had saved before and am looking to invest 3k into my studio.
I have;
-Mac Pro quad core 2.8, 4gigs
-appogee duet
-jbl lsr 4300's
-61 key midi keyboard
-a whoolle bunch of pluggys
I am looking for either enhancement stuff to throw on top of my sounds(waves stuff) or a very good hardware synth(Moog Voyager, Nord Lead.. Polar)
What would you get in my situation and why!?
thanks |

Well If you want to splash out on Waves plugins I can certainly recommend them. But Try the demos first to make sure if it's what your after and your happy with what they can do.
And if you are after anything to do with mastering then check out T-RackS 3 ;) |

If you have a bunch of plugins already, i would go for the Moog Voyager. If you have many software synths already they are likely to cover most of the stuff that the virus can do.
With the moog you will have a sound that cannot be replicated by software. I use my voyager almost exclusively for bass and in this area it rips the virus to bits.
You could probably get a second hand RME voyager and a nord 2 for the same price as a TI if you look around. |

Waves plugins are not very good, considering how much you pay for them. Voxengo, Wavearts and Sonnox are way better. |

I disagree somewhat. Most Waves plugins do suck, but their latest vintage emulations sound great. I particularly like the SSL bundle.
all Moog and Access, get an Alesis Andromeda. |

And, now you're seeing the problem with the open-ended "what should I buy?" question on any forum. It's a waste of your time because all you're going to get are dozens of different opinions from dozens of different people who each have their own preferences, priorities, workflows, etc. Try using what you've got for now, figure out where you feel you're lacking, do some research on your own, then come back with some pointed questions that can be answered objectively, and you'll put your money to much better use. |

Andromeda would also be a very good choice. Quite hard to program though if you are a novice. Thats the beauty with the voyager. Its a piece of cake to program and the bass sounds and pure tone of the instrument is lovely.
The newer waves stuff is actually great. The API and SSL bundles are absolutely great. Up there with UAD for sure. Even waves' older plugins are quite nice. The renEQ is quite solid for saying how old it is. The reverbs are pants though by todays standard. |
