Really good editorial on PF1 about all this court business: |
Agreed!
If it were only the Brawn team running the different diffuser, then I think there might be grounds to declare it illegal. But 3 teams came up with effectively the same design! I'll be pissed if they rule against this especially when it's documented that at least Brawn (and likely Williams and Toyota) sought FIA clarification of legality before the season and the FIA said it was ok.
Now, the big teams are pissed because they aren't fast enough and now they'll cry foul.
Where were all the protests years ago when Ferrari go their cars more "right" than everyone else and were much fasster? Same with McLaren before that?
This is the innovation that F1 should pride itself on except it's now being lost in the courts. |

Man this Hamilton/Australia storm is just crazy! Just to catch you guys up:
1) Hamilton was dropped from the standings for Australia, him and Mclaren were disqualified.
2) McLaren has now suspended Dace Ryan.
3) FIA is considering further actions against the trio for out right lying (misleading) to them.
That editorial I posted had a lot of good points about providing proof about such serious allegations. The FIA is for once come through and actually provided the details about this incident.
| quote: | McLaren pitwall: OK Lewis, you should need to make sure your delta is positive over the safety car line. After the safety car line the delta doesn't matter but no overtaking. No overtaking.
Hamilton: The Toyota went off in a line at the second corner, ..., is this OK?
McLaren pitwall: Understood, Lewis. We'll confirm and get back to you.
Hamilton: He was off the track. He went wide.
McLaren pitwall: Lewis, you need to allow the Toyota through. Allow the Toyota through now.
Hamilton: Okay.
Hamilton: He's slowed right down in front of me.
McLaren pitwall: OK, Lewis. Stay ahead for the time being. Stay ahead. We will get back to you. We are talking to Charlie.
Hamilton: I let him past already.
McLaren pitwall: Okay, Lewis. That's fine. That's fine. Hold position. Hold position.
Hamilton: Tell Charlie I already overtook him. I just let him past.
McLaren pitwall: I understand Lewis. We are checking. Now can we go to yellow G 5, yellow Golf 5.
Hamilton: I don't have to let him past I should be able to take that position back, if he made a mistake.
McLaren pitwall: Yes, we understand Lewis. Let's just do it by the book. We are asking Charlie now. You are in P4. If you hold this position. Just keep it together.
McLaren pitwall: OK Lewis, your KERS is full, your KERS is full. Just be aware. You can go back to black F2, black Foxtrot 2.
Hamilton: Any news from Charlie whether I can take it back or not.
McLaren pitwall: Still waiting on a response Lewis, still waiting.
McLaren pitwall: Lewis, work on your brakes please. Front brakes are cold.
McLaren pitwall: If we are able to use one KERS that would be good. If you deploy KERS please do so now.
McLaren pitwall: OK, Lewis, this is the last lap of the race. At the end of the lap the safety car will come in, you just proceed over the line without overtaking, without overtaking. We are looking into the Trulli thing, but just hold position. |

McLaren were definitely trying to steal a place, with a bad car and got caught. Now they are going to pay a dear price for 'cheating'. Hamilton and Ryan were both easily at fault, because let's face it, the words came out of Hamilton's mouth in the meeting with the Stewards, regardless of what Ryan asked him to say. But, they could not suspend their star driver, now could they? Ryan took one on the chin, for the good of the team. Had they suspended Lewis, they would have had Hikki, and Pedro driving?:haha: :haha: |

^ lol yeah, they totally got burned.
I still think Pedro is a great driver who just never got his chance though. Better than Heiki for sure. Whenever he's had to sub in for one of the regular drivers he's always done quite well. |

Completely agree. Although him and Alanso were involved in the whole blackmail debocle the other season. But, neither Heiki nor Pedro could put in a charge like Lewis to make something out of a bad situation. After this year I think Heiki will have a really tough time finding a drive. He clearly had a good car last year, and was just schooled time and time again.
It's funny, PlanetF1 has early predictions, and this year, one of the questions was: 'when will Hamilton be called before the stewards and punished this year?'. Nobody predicted the first GP! |

^ Agreed. When Hamilton is on a tear, he's brilliant to watch. He lack maturity though (yes, I know he's only barely in his 20's :p). In his first season, he showed great poise and patience. In his second, he got a bit arrogant and the delta between his great drives and his drives was much bigger. So far this year, he's shown more arrogance in going along with what he obviously knew was wrong - he just was desperate for a good start to the season.
4th place would have still been a better start to the season than any of his rivals from last season. He should have taken the gift given to him.
PDR is smooth and consistent, but hasn't ever been in a position to put in one of "those" drives. One of the drives where people really take notice.
Heiki has done all in F1. He was great in the lower series, but he's just never found his groove. |

+1
I almost didnt want to wake up for the race... glad I did.
I actually had a premonition yesterday that the race would be red flagged.
They better give up on this Twilight race idea... caring more about the number of viewers than the drivers saftey is retarded.
But good race for Button - he's on FIRE
Im still in shock that McLaren only has 1 pt and Ferrari has none. |

| I think I'm more a Toyota fan than a McLaren one this season.. Trulli has been surprising. |

The Toyota's have been great this year. Glock was flying right before the rain started!
Rosberg was also fast at the start too. I think he'll actually win one this year, and maybe Glock too. |
