Swine flu prompts California "state of emergency"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on Tuesday declared a "state of emergency" for the state over an outbreak of the swine flu that has killed 149 people in Mexico.
So far state and local officials have confirmed 13 cases of the swine flu in California. None has been fatal, although Los Angeles County Coroner's officials were investigating two deaths as possibly related to the disease.
Schwarzenegger's proclamation allows the state to deploy additional resources to the Department of Public Health and more quickly and easily purchase equipment and materials.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano declared a federal public health emergency on Sunday.

does this worry anyone else? any cali kids have the inside word on what might happen with EDC, or how seriously people are taking this in cali? obviously if the governator has declared state of emergency, a massive 100,000 person outdoor event like daisy might be seen as a gigantic public health threat... i know in mexico, they've already shut down schools, bars, nightclubs, movie theaters and many resturants in hopes of preventing the spread of the virus. lets hope this thing gets under control quick or missing EDC might be the least of everyone's worries :/
There was an epidemioligist on CNN today saying that virtually all flu viruses die out during the summer months. The worst flu pandemic of 1918 was Spanish influenza, which killed over 20 million people worldwide and over 500,000 in the United States. It also died out during the summer, but came back with a vengeance in the fall/winter.
I would be more worried about Monster Massive or NYE this year than EDC, although...
