Yup... good old mcguinty will be harmonizing the PST with the GST. That means that we will be paying 8% more on everything that has GST added but not PST.

You will be paying 8% more for the following:

Gasoline
Electricity
Natural gas
Many more Grocery Items
Restaurant food under $4
Shoes
Legal services

Amongst many many more examples.

Thanks Mc... just what we need in a recession!

Im sure he will throw in a new ban as well just for good measure... its been about a week since hes introduced one after all!

Shoes have always had both the PST and GST, no?

only shoes costing less than $30 are non taxable. anything above that is considered a luxury and is taxable.

The Feds are also pushing for the province to do it. It's something that's in place in several other provinces already.

Most goods already have PST anyways.. no biggie for me.

and some things won't have any tax at all if it happens.

Paying 6-8 cents MORE a litre for gas is not a good thing.. This is wrong!

I really hope he gets hameroids so he knows what kind of pain in the ass he is.

It's kinda ironic, because this thingy will erase any benefit the consumers got from the GST cut

Ah well. this is what happens when you live in a 'poor' province

Sucks our gas will be as high as Quebec now.

When I left Toronto, I filled up at 83.9 at the Pioneer in Snowball (York Region).
I filled up again in Alexandria (just before the Quebec border) at 76.9
It was 92.9 to 94.9 in Montreal.
78.9 in Ottawa
