i will post a more detailed music and such review in the review thread
this is just a lil post about the festival as a whole
i just wanted to seriously thank made event for not only putting on an event this epic, but just haveing it run so proper
no lines at bathrooms, food concessions, super friendly staff, great sound, lighting, lasers, production etc etc
these past 2 days were just amazing, iam sitting here now at home
and i just feel that these past 2 days i was on a vaction a million miles away, but i was probly only like 15 lol
i dunno the whole story if this event was a success or a fail from your guys point of view with a good enuff profit, and support from the parks dept and other city officals to do this event again, but from a fans point of view it was amazing and i hope for you guys it was a success and hope this is a annual event
a few very minor things that i feel need to be worked on if your planning on doing this event again
1. more port a potties by the main stage...its a madd far walk from the main stage all the way back to the front where all the bathrooms are
2. i noticed a few dj's when they were coming on from the before dj, like the turn over did not run smooth...either the sound, mixer or monitors were not working properly and alot of them looked pissed
even on the main stage yesterday, after markus was done and ferry came on, for a good 5 min there was no sound commin out of the speakers on the left side
3. you guys have been doing outdoor events for a while now, and i notice every year you guys still use brooklyn brewery, but to be honest i feel its time for a change...they only had 2 choices to choose from, and then they have the balls to charge 9 bucks for a beer
what do they think they are serving liquid gold?
STICK IT UP YOUR ASS BROOKLYN BREWERY!!
anyway made event think about it and hopefully next year will be just as epic if not more of an event
again guys thank you :) |

1. There were porto-poties on the hill to the left of the stage. A bit hard to see but there was a whole row of them there and they were marked on the map they had no lines either.
2. No sound coming out of the RIGHT speaker was Ferry's fault (most likely). Check your equipment before you start. The balance knob on his mixer was turned to the left. Once he saw that he fixed it pretty quickly.
3. Liquid Gold is actually made Captain Lawrence Brewery (another NY brewer) and is amaaaaaazing. Get your hands on some. Brooklyn Brewery can only wish they could brew beer that good. |

2 - there was a sound guy trying to fix the problem during markus's set, a couple of times the audio level changed drastically - i think either markus or the sound tech would've noticed a simple thing like the balance knob being off. Also I downloaded markus's set and the same distortions are present on the recording. 5 Minutes after Ferry got on he fixed it - damn shame too it wouldve been nice to hear those nasty basslines that markus dropped in full glory. even not working properly the system was pretty good tho. btw ferry's set sucked. I dont think he played anything that he didnt write and 96% of it he has played for the last 2 yrs he has been in nyc. Was goin to pacha to see him buttttt was too tired. I seriously HOPE he played some new songs at pacha.
I cant believe how much deadmua5 sucked. Didnt think he was THAT bad - I've seen him twice b4 2 years ago it was decent. I was pissed we wasted so much time listening to him, cuz we only got to see rivera's last 25 minutes on stage and he was KILLING it. ing deadmau5
what an awesome 2 days. props to made event i hope they made mad money so this occurs every year. beers sucked being $9 (good beer tho) but at least water was cheap.
dont know whether first day or second day was better, but both were incredible. Feel like they tweaked the sound on riverside arena for the second day, i felt like it sounded better. Spent alot of time just chillin on the grass with my friends, it was really cool just to chill out and still be able to listen to the music. Among my favorite sets were Markus, Dj Mehdi (never even heard of this guy but he was awesome!) and Josh Gabriel (crazy). |

Good because I'm a high maintenance kind of bitch.
Now stop fronting and tell us who is playing for the after parties. |
Yumpop, srsly. You are cool as hell and we must meet in person. I think the rest of nyta agrees. Of course my dumbass missed the meetup both days! Til the next event then...

I'm actually relieved to hear that ya'll had the same thing. I was a tad concerned about all the black stuff coming out of my nose! |

Awesome concert. Deadmau5 was AWFUL, Armin sucked too, Loved Schulz, Ferry, ATB and Benny Benassi (he was off the hook). Seemed like they did get a good turnout both days, Looking forward to next year.
As for the black stuff, it was crazy. I had to scrub my face with brillo when i got back to get the black film off. oh, and i had some nice hard black boogers as well.. ;) |

Aww, thanks. It was great meeting everyone and we had an amazing time. Too bad you were busy with your crazy schedule, you must be beat. It is funny that I even knew one of you from going out, small world. |

The distortions in Markus's set were in the beginning, it seemed like he had some sort of trouble with his CDJ. Every time he tried to cue it up it cut out the sound for the right speaker. Then the sound guy came on stage and Markus showed him the problem, he pressed cue, the sound cut out and he quickly pressed it again and the sound returned to normal. So they switched out the CDJ for a new one and it was all fine from that point on. No sound distortions. Anyhow, that was on the right DJ set-up. Ferry was playing on the left side. At some point soon after he started either he realized the sound was off or, more likely, someone told him and he quickly turned the knob (you could see this if you were standing up close) and the sound started coming out of both sides instantly. Coincidence?
Who played before Markus on the main stage? I'm guessing that guy was on the left set-up (where Ferry was). And...I dunno, I wasn't there, maybe he ended his set by playing around with the balance knob (sound going left, right, left, right). Anyone there for that part? |
