All my friends who are broke and have addictions are the coolest people who go out the most, know the most people and have the largest friendship groups. Funny.

Haha... man your initial few posts are so true about some people I know. Probably up to about age 28, my original inner circle of old friends were relatively similar. Then BAM!!!... the majority of us have started behaving like adults, getting married, evolving careers, having mortgage payments, etc.

Unfortunately, my best friend in the world who has always been like a brother to me is one of them. Has a wealthy family who always bailed him out and enabled his lazy behavior. Made it through 1 year of college, then quit. Never worked 1 single day his entire life until shortly after turning 30 about a year and a half ago (yet always complained about how he was bored) and that was only because the sasquatch he got engaged to made that a stipulation of a long term committment. For YEARS my friends and I bent over backwards hooking him up with jobs that he didn't deserve, and he would never show up or accept them (making us look like dicks)... eventually we just gave up. He stopped whining, but now sees all his friends becoming successful and has a deep seeded bitterness about him. For 16+ years, we probably didn't go 2 days without talking to each other, and now he's fading away and it's sad. He's married to some horrible wench because, in his words, "I can't think of anyone else that would put up with my ." I really hate to see it, but what can I do? :(

i used to be the biggest alcoholic drug fed party junkie i know. The thing is eventually you grow out of that, and the people who don't realize that they can't do this the rest of their lives usually either end up hanging out with people half their age, or all alone.

I went through a year of being a drugged up party kid between 19-20. I dunno what happened but near the end of November of '06 I was just tired of it.

Soon as I decided to stop being a failure my group of party friends disappeared. Its not too big of a deal, I found better ones.

oh... the 2nd guy is the one that, as he's getting older, he's acting younger and younger. He just turned 31 and all his life consists of is partying balls 4 to 5 nights a week, and meeting random girls he can bang and then not talk to again. I hadn't seen him in about a year until last month in Tampa, and went to a nightclub there.... it was so weird to see my 31 year old buddy know everyone from the door man, to the bartenders, to random bar flies and puff his chest out like it was validation of "badass-edness". He thinks it's money to get a stripper's number. He was never like that even in his early 20's. I love the guy but I just can't ing relate to that anymore. And he gets all offended when the rest of us don't want to do blow until 6 am and end up at some sleezy strip club. I mean, grow the up dude!!!

once again I agree. that's what's happening to the 2nd dude who's story I just posted. He has fast friends now, but I think he's really empty inside because his real friends have all grown up and live serious lives for the most part. He lives alone and it will probably be that way for a while, considering he's still trying to make plays for 21 year old bartenders, strippers, and club girls. What's ed up is, he used to make over $100K per year in a really professional job in Chicago... moved back to FL about 4 years ago and it all went downhill from there. He now works the front desk of a boutique hotel his parents own on Clearwater Beach for about $300 per week.

Sounds like someone went through a mid-life crisis and picked up a copy of The Game.
