Haha... man your initial few posts are so true about some people I know. Probably up to about age 28, my original inner circle of old friends were relatively similar. Then BAM!!!... the majority of us have started behaving like adults, getting married, evolving careers, having mortgage payments, etc.
Unfortunately, my best friend in the world who has always been like a brother to me is one of them. Has a wealthy family who always bailed him out and enabled his lazy behavior. Made it through 1 year of college, then quit. Never worked 1 single day his entire life until shortly after turning 30 about a year and a half ago (yet always complained about how he was bored) and that was only because the sasquatch he got engaged to made that a stipulation of a long term committment. For YEARS my friends and I bent over backwards hooking him up with jobs that he didn't deserve, and he would never show up or accept them (making us look like dicks)... eventually we just gave up. He stopped whining, but now sees all his friends becoming successful and has a deep seeded bitterness about him. For 16+ years, we probably didn't go 2 days without talking to each other, and now he's fading away and it's sad. He's married to some horrible wench because, in his words, "I can't think of anyone else that would put up with my ." I really hate to see it, but what can I do? :(

i got a buddy just like that, but since we're still relatively young (23-24ish) just imagine the same situation but without the marriage part. i hooked him up with at least two or three decent paying jobs, big steps up from the 7.50 or whatever bull he's making now, and every time he stood me up at the last minute, didn't show up to work, and totally made me look like a jackass in front of my boss(es). dropped out of technical college, ed up two opportunities to live in nicer cities, etc.
now he lives at home with his mom, no car, no license, no S/O, his meager checks garnished for a car accident he got in to a couple years ago.. it's sad.
conversely, i personally still do (some) drugs regularly, and feel that my life could improve in a few different ways; but the difference between us and them, i suppose, is that the motivated actively seek out self-improvement, whereas the coddled and lazy are content with mediocrity.

needing a gf who is into edm is a huge myth.
If you are going to base relationship choices on music and what type of clubs you like, you are doomed to fail as there are a million more important things than that to build a relationship that goes somewhere and is productive.
totally, but what makes two people connect initially is sharing the same interests, and as EDM is arguably for a niche audience, it's easier to connect with someone when they like the same specialized form of music you do, imo
edit: and lol at this thread changing directions and discussing armin all of a sudden :stongue:

i have to say though, it is a ing blessing to have a girlfriend that willingly goes through my beatport crate and reviews my selections, browses with me at the record store, jams out with me on a saturday morning, and dances with me until the lights come on.
we certainly have a much deeper and broader relationship than this alone, but this is for sure some sweet sweet icing on the cake.
she would support whatever i am obsessed with at the moment.
that being said, we both are really jaded and rarely go out to the clobs, occasionally to support djs or promoters that we know more personally, or selected other occasions of musical greatness. There are a ton of other better things to do besides waste away in a dark room and listen to blop bloop with crackheads.
i think the great thing with my gf and i is that we are both very passionate about music. Even if our choices in exactly what type of music differs, it is still a common ground that can lead to each other teaching the other something new every now and again.
she is teaching me to play guitar. I asked her if she wanted to learn how to mix and she told me, "why would i want to be a dj when i already know how to play my own music"
still love that bitch:mad:

.but as my career has developed and as a single guy with no kids i simply dont relate to most of the people at my work who most are married, have kids, and cant stand "techno" as they call it.their partying days are "so over" to them even though they have no idea what a party is.
This one's the funniest. All the losers in my office are always like:
", had the biggest weekend EVER! I must have had 11 or 12 beers on Saturday night! What did you get up to?"
"Erm, I went out on Friday night and didn't get home until Sunday afternoon."
"So what, you stayed at a friend's house?"
"No..."
