made event took off their d. ramirez gig for cielo in aug
so maybe it is true that cielo will be closed for a few weeks in aug
sucks
trancension
i totally agree with jmauro.

it sucks for those of you hoping to have fun at pacha this past weekend. but it's sweet to see a club that was so ty to me and my friends while we were in town get shut down on one of the biggest party weekends of the year. so much lost revenue. i love it.

and make no mistake of it, if there's demand for edm talent, the promoters will find some venue to bring them in. you guys live in nyc. djs are going to come there no matter what. no other place has been as successful as pacha while pacha is open. if pacha closed, another place could step in and take that uno numero spot.

pacha is a horrible example of a mega club. i won't be stopping by there regardless of who is playing when i'm in nyc in the future.
MeLLyMeL
yeah I agree... Pacha does suck. pretty fuking bad.

I remember my first experience when I moved up here *eesh*... after that - I've only really gone bc it's free and even then I don't stay long.

So glad Zabiela went to Cielo this year as I kept missing him and missing him because I dare not go to Pacha.

I just hope the FOB's and Guidos/ettes just move to a club I don't normally go.

NOT Cielo. Cielo is my faaaaaaaaaav. PLEASE DON'T GOOOOOOOOO

DON;T GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo

Trancension,

You know not how this city works or functions from the inside; A typical post from a small-minded peon.

If the city keeps shutting down venues, they won't have any left to open. The overhead of opening a club at this point in time in NYC significantly outweighs the potention upside. Why do you think these clubs have 5-40 investors? Between zoning, and liquor license fees, and community board, and politician greasing, it's close to impossible. Unfortunately, the city NEEDS a place like Pacha to stay afloat. No other place has been able to thrive in the city, not because Pacha is open, but because its too much of a headache + too expensive to open one! If they shut for good, then we are all in serious trouble.

Cielo is already closed for all of August!

if the city keeps shutting down clubs
and theres not many places to turn to
then i hate to use the word but more "underground rave" type parties will be poping up
not nessicaraly "rave" music but just people lookin to party without any supervision or security in a big empty loft of warehouse
and once it gets raided the party is over for good cause it will be illegal
MeLLyMeL
dude relax a little. if clubs close - they usually reopen as a new name.

not that big of a freaking deal. unless they completely tear it down.. chill a little and let people who hate the club - hate hate hate !:happy2:

TBH, these are the best parties going on now and it has been like this for a while. Best times I've had lately have mostly been in some filthy loft/warehouse/basement in Brooklyn. It's not necessarily a bad thing to me if things go back underground (which is how things usually happen during difficult economic times), the clubbing scene has been so horrible for quite some time and that ruins everything for everybody. If anything, the underground scene getting stronger will force clubs to "keep it real", in a way, with these illegal parties becoming competitors.
But the issue is not even our community and how to keep it alive. The big problem is that the City of New York is trying to change its "City that never sleeps" image shutting down bars, lounges and clubs, putting people out of work and completely turning their backs on small businesses like neighourhood bars and lounges (this does not apply to Pacha or big clubs, obv), because it's becoming harder and harder to even get a beer and wine license, and if you're lucky enough to get one, the place has stop serving alcohol @ 2 am.
It will be interesting to see how everything unfolds. Mel, you say it's not a big deal, but the fact of the matter is that when you don't have any place to go to on a regular night because the city shut all of them down, it will really piss you off. , if I wanted to sleep and have peace and quiet I would be in a suburb, not New York City.

we've all had memories at pacha - but let's face it, it's sad to admit the club is considered the mega-club of NYC. Unless you get VIP, you have no room to move around let alone dance on the main floor, that ain't how clubs are supposed to be. Now even the VIP area gets so crowded cuz they let just about anyone who knows the bouncers/management/the dj up there. I don't get how people can find it excusable that the biggest club in the one of the biggest party cities on the planet has set such a ty standard. It's not the first club in NYC and if it's shut down - it certainly won't be the last.

I don't know how the city works from the inside rofl.

OKAY!

I do know one thing, New York is essentially the biggest city in the world. You're going to get EDM Talent coming through regardless. The city isn't going to close every club down. How ing dumb are you. That'd be like trying to enforce prohibition. It's not going to happen. Every once in a while, a club might get shut down. And I'm sure the city/council has their reasons. They are not going to close every club. As they close the OCCASIONAL club, one will most likely take its place. New York is too popular and big not to have multiple clubs.

You guys are spazzing out way too much.

"THE END OF CLUBBING IS NEAR!"

Get over yourselves.

Now I remember why I don't post...People who don't get it coming on here to spew their useless opinions and speak about that they know nothing whatsoever about.

Stay in ATL.
