What makes trance made during early 2000 and the 90's so much better than what is being put out today?
I have listened to both pretty extensively and don't find anything wrong with either really...
Whats the deal? Put your finger on it, don't just say it used to be so much better back in the day... |

Ever1 has different opinions. But the IMO-truth is that the quality of present trance tracks is very disappointing. Thats just way things goes nowadays - ppl dont want to make quality tracks, they just roll few knobs and seal the deal. And the result is un-listeneable.
Of course you can find some good tunes, but its MAINLY crap.
I havent listened trance for a long time. I just enjoy the good ones which i have in my collection. |

whats wrong:
1.less creativity (everything sounds the same):
a.in sounds (even though less VSTIs were avilable back then)
b.in melodies
2.commercialism:
a.too much emphasis on the words\vocals in trance.
b.back in the day, there was an attampt to make something DIFFRENT than mainstream instead of attampting to be THE mainstream and make more money.
3.less talent to represent whats good. |

Whats wrong is people think that great music is going to come to them.
There is a same amount of great tracks out now, as it was back then, you just have to DIG! |

as back then too, i remember extremely well that i thought most music where absolute in 1996-98, and it wasnt before 99 and all the way today i found amazing tracks from the 90s, which was very hidden then. |

| Thats another thing that is wrong today, many tracks , especially vandit released ones , that start and build up , breakdown to the melody then build up to 2 mins of beat and bass ,Simon Patterson - Thump for example. |

It's all overproduced, it all sounds the same, most of it is cheesy, it's an echo chamber of superstar DJs and record labels all sucking off each other for mutual benefit, meaning everyone can make money without trying very hard...
To the OP: how long have you been listening to trance for? |
