| I was at school, and nobody told us. It wasn't until I came home and turned the TV on I found out, by which point both towers had collapsed. |

| I was at school wondering, "When the hell are they gonna induct Michael Jordan into the hall of fame? I mean, how long is it going to take people to forget he tried to play baseball? I wonder..." |

| It was late afternoon and I had been sitting for hours studying math (I had a math test next day) when my little brother came and told me an airplane had crashed into WTC. Another Cessna I figured and turned on the TV and the first thing I see is the first tower collapse. Then the endless reruns of the planes hitting the towers. A few minutes later my friend called and we talked about it for 30 minutes or so. Is this the start of WW3? I watched for about 1-2 hours then continued studying math. |

| In 6th grade reading class. The TV magically turns on and I get to see the towers collapse. My teacher was from new york and went insane. I didn't realize how big of a deal it would be until the next day |

| heard it on the way to junior high on the radio, the radio people really had no idea what was going on and they brushed it off and continued. when we got to school there was a crowd of people watching the TV's in the library so I went and watched. towers collapsed, people screamed. The bell rang, we went to social class and watched CNN almost the whole day. My social teacher speculated that a war, possible global war would start because of these events. He was kind of right. ill never forget that day.. |

AP Chemistry (first class of my day). Teacher usually kept the TV on while we were setting up. I think it was on CNN and the reporting started.
At first I was like "wtf, new movie?", "hoax?". Then I thought maybe it was the anniversary of Orson Welles' War of the Worlds radio broadcast - or maybe someone taking it a step farther.
Once it hit me that was real, all I could repeat in my head is "Please don't be the Russians, please don't be the Russians, please don't be the Russians..."
We got out early, I went home and had a big bowl of ice cream. |

Eight years ago,
It was two days before one of the most awesome "dates" I've ever had. I was in a bus stop in front of the airport, when a girl approached me and asked:
"Excuse me, how do I get to ze bus station?"
"Just follow me, I'm going to take the same bus" - I said, and she nodded. I've always been curious about accents, and nowhere in the country people said "ze" for "the". That's when I asked her:
"So, where are you from?"
Turns out she was a foreigner. She was glad to find someone that spoke English, and chatted away. I then asked her out for lunch, and she said yes. I then showed her around, we exchanged e-mail addresses and left her where she wanted to go (she was lucky we met, because she was headed to the wrong bus station). We talked about nationality, about the terrorist attack that happened two days earlier, and how filthy Swansea used to be. We exchanged letters a year later and never kept in touch again.
That was, rather egotistically, the most meaningful event that happened in my live in September 2001.
edit: As far as the terrorist act is concerned, I was watching CNN as it happened. I felt really anxious for the people both in the plane and in the building but, once the towers collapsed, I just hoped the American government would do something rational about it. |

| Junior year of college, missed class just watching the news. Unfortunately my neighbor's uncle was on the plane that went into the pentagon, so she was getting bombarded with news people and they had this awful pic of her on the school paper's front page bawling...ing media |
