On 9/11 I just like to remember what this terrible tragedy allowed our government to do, and what our country has become since.

Nothing like a massive terrorist attack to give the government carte blanche and silence any and all dissent.

"Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship. ...voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country." - Hermann Göring

In school, not caring... still don't care. While it sucks that people died needlessly, I didn't lose anyone I knew and after awhile it seemed trendy to have a sob story about the aunt/uncle/cousin you lost in the attack (I can name ten classmates who supposedly had this happen to). I no longer see this as "REMEMBER 9/11" day but just another random day in September and the day I roll my eyes the most at people.

I honestly forgot until I logged on and saw OMG DON'T FORGET THAT THING FROM 8 YEARS AGO!!!!

I was in 8th grade Spanish class. I went to my computer class and watched the news for the rest of the day. I remember not really understanding the full extent of what happened until I saw my parents later that night when I learned my dad had lost a few good friends.

I can't believe its been 8 years. wow.

just because it's not on the news, doesn't mean those people in africa don't think about what happened and remember/respect it.
