I want hardwood or laminate in our house...but the bf's parents said they don't want that in the house. See, this is exactly why I didn't like the idea of moving in there. Ugh. |

I'm SO glad to have hardwood floors, now. Carpet was becoming a serious point of stress (having a 2 year-old, 2 dogs, and 2 cats in the house). |

Not mine biologically, but have been raising her since 3 months old. (The dad is still around for her, though... he's a good guy. So, it's a bit of a weird situation, as I'm not "daddy", nor am I a "stepdad", yet I really do have that role. :) ) |

There's hardwood in the master bedroom, which is nice. But I would prefer it throughout.
Bf's dad said he would put new carpet in for us, which is ok I guess. At least we'll get some choice there.
Ugh just thinking about it makes me so angry. |

i've found that it's a lot easier to keep clean than tile. i had light colored wood laminate flooring in my old apt and it cleaned up so nice with just a wet & dry swiffering. |

I got kinda lucky... there was worn/stained carpet throughout the house, but I pulled a bit of it up and there was hardwood there. Turned out it was throughout the entire downstairs. Couldn't believe someone covered it up. So, we ripped up all the carpet and had the floors refinished. It looks phenomenal, now. My house was built in like 1945, and it has the really thin wood slats and is a nice blonde-ish color (not too orangey, which we were worried about.) |

Yeah I thought of all the ing vacuuming we'll have to do in a house full of ing carpet. I'm seriously not letting this go...and if I don't get my way I'm gonna tell him he can do all the vacuuming. He actually likes carpet, so I know he didn't really push too hard for laminate. Ass. |

Maybe see if you guys can pay the difference for wood?

Yeah it is easier, but you can't ever let stuff sit. My brother in-law does hardwood floors for a living, and I have seen some ed up pictures from horrible maintenance.

This kind of find is always fantastic. |

It's not about the money. We would have paid out of our own pocket to being with. They just don't want it in the house. I'm getting so pissed off here.
OMFG RAGE. |

That's whack. I ing hate carpet. I thought I liked it, but god damn when my brother in-law installed this really expensive and nice hardwood in their place, I hate carpet. Only good in bedrooms. Although I would prefer none at all. |

I don't like the effect that hardwood has on the acoustics in the house (carpet makes everything SO much quieter). Hardwood floors just make everything so reverb-y and loud. It's hard creeping around in the morning trying not to wake up the baby.
But, the benefits definitely outweigh the annoyances. Just need to work on some rug placement. |
