i have never been to a single event with that over 21 atmosphere you're griping about. Maybe you only see what you're looking for. I'm usually too busy out there on the dancefloor with my 21+ness to notice what people around me are doing, much less whine about it. You have to be a cuddle puddle mess in the middle of the room to get in the way of my good time, and even then it's hard.
If you don't care about the people there and you only go for the DJs and not to be part of the community, then who cares who else is there and what their angle is? You can't have a good time because there are old people trying to pick up chicks? Get out there and dance and quit complaining. |
My problem is that the energy in the crowd in pathetic in old people crowds. It's lack luster and boring. The Avalon and the Vanguard are like this. You never see people going crazy to the music there. In fact it would not even matter who the DJ's are in these cases.
Now if you enjoy that chill calmed down club atmosphere and by all means go enjoy yourself. I'm just disappointed that A&B opted for that over a massive mega main stage rave. |

I prefer to see big DJ's at the sport arena, but it does get kinda ghetto..too many little kids, gang bangers, and security that is high. I have been to Giant NYE and they are very good. But it is kinda true about older crowd lacking energy.

no WAY, man... last event i went to at the Vanguard was amazing (after they finally let us in... friggin... what's up with opening willcall at the same time that the event starts? lame.). I didn't see any chill calmed down club enviornment... People were packed together dancing nonstop inside... they have that whole outside area that you can just avoid if you don't want to be around the people who need a breather.
i, too, love the huge crowds of the Sports Arena/Collesium, but that does NOT guarantee you quality energy. It's about what *you* bring to event. |

I don't like how 21 and over clubs like Avalon are so lame. The energy in the crowd is killed like they're all old farts. You'll never see "crrrazy" show when it's 21 and over in my opinion. I just can't imagine older folks (and I'm 22) really getting all that excited over the music. |
energy is down in both young and old crowd. scene has changed. it is not the way it used to be. in the past, i used to see good dancers, but not any longer. at that time, we had some good events. now, people are trying to justify lame events. an event like giant hotel would be normal a few years back. now, it is exception (i never trust giant though).
people seem more into drugs. if you look at the girls, they are all messed up. it is possible tattoo generation grew up. there was a time there were no crackheads and clubs would not allow drugs inside. right now, economy is bad so they do not want to return customers. i think it will be worse the way the whole nation is going downhill. even tiger turned out to be a cheetah.
basically, if you are smart, you stay out of clubs. tiger should have hired $3000/hour call girls. economy must be really bad. |

I have noticed a def lack fo energy in the LA clubs since I moved down here earlier this year, thoguh I haven't gotten out as much as I'd like. Though even when I've seen big DJs this year here in LA such as Ferry or a Sander van Doorn, the energy in the crowd was almost non-existent. Not talking about crowd size, but purely how the crowd that was there responded to the music. I haven't been to Circus in awhile, but it has been a long-standing theme there. 20 people up front going ntus, the rest of the crowd in zombieland. Avalaon.....not in a position to judge that place recently, but at the very least I've ehard it's gotten better. Is that saying much? I dunno.
Hell, you have a couple people who would rather see DJs at the Sports Arena than at clubs. That's sad, because that place has the WORST vibe of ANY place in existence.
My advise? Do what Bigperf does most of the time. I think it's Bigperf. |

I only go for the music not to meet people I'll never speak with ever again in my life. If a conversation comes up so be it but I paid the cash for the DJ's so that's waht I'm going to do. And when I get to the crowd I want them bouncing and cheering all ed up drugs and alcohol. I could care less about those clubs I've been to where it's mostly just older guys trying to dress up nice to pickup drunk chicks where the music isn't even the real focus. When I've been to younger crowds in clubs like at the HEIST for example on Thursday nights there's a ton of energy in the audience and is way more PLUR centric than West Coast wanna-be guido/asian mafia 21+ over clubs.
Trust me Above & Beyond and Cosmic Gate are at the top of my list but I would not want to be in that kind of atmosphere and I've had enough of it. |
hahaha ..:stongue: I think you should just stay home, play the music you like and get yourself all excited while jumping around with your hands up in the air. :stongue: |

I'm the same age as you, and crazy wild people are the reason I never go to massives anymore. Kids are rude, make gross cuddle puddles, don't like to wear shirts, dance with their limbs flailing everywhere (into my face mostly) and are into the drugs and the PLUR culture more than the music. As you say, I've had enough of it.
This Giant Hotel setup is perfect, and IMO they should have age restrictions on massives too. At least make it 18+. |

Will the # of occupants per room be strictly enforced (e.g. all hotel guests must wear I.D. bracelets, etc..) ? It's unfortunate that big rowdy groups ruin it for the others but what happens if we have a few friends who like to stop by and spend a couple of hours in the room? |
Anyone know the answer to this? |

Like they would really make any money then. I don't mind the happy drug people. They're not hurting anyone and without them we'd not get to see our favorite Trance DJ's blast music for enormous crowds like at Monster Massive:
I uploaded this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiiXM5E6EtQ
Secondly I would argue the older crowd 21+ is even less into the music and care even less about the DJ's.
So kandi kids, love em or hate em they're here to stay and they support the scene.:D |
